Blew the heater valve.at 263k miles. It was not just brittle, it was toast. Zero integrity.

Thought it was the PHH but that turned out to be fine. Replaced the pesky part since most of the fluid was already drained on my driveway.

PHH took about 2 hours between cold ones and mucho forearm skin but the EHCV (Easy heater control valve) took about 15 minutes.

Because it's so easy to replace and spot trouble when the yellow creep reached the valve body, you guys might want to take.a.look at your HCV for the dreaded yellow creep.

When ever we do swaps we just put a new one in, they are cheap, and always crumble when trying to remove it

Never, EVER even TOUCH that thing without a new one on-hand. They should have called it the Schrodinger valve. Is it good to go, or is it toast? The answer is, both. That is, it's working but it's likely also trash. And the moment you move a hose to find out, things crumble and it's dead.
