Ugh. I know a guy who literally lost his arm due to a metal fan breaking and gouging his arm so badly they had to amputate it. Be careful! ;)

PICS???

happened once to me also....but...it had gone into the radiator.

then i got a plastic blade ....and coming back from a 4x4 weekend ...it broke and also ruined my radiator...a bad motor mount was the cause of that one....it was a very hard wheeling weekend :)

check your motor mounts :)

i have heard of people pulling off blades to make it ballance enough to get home...as long as you are not stuck in trafic it will cool the engine enough...

with a 4 blade its kinda hard to pull off the opposite blade (metal)....but you will have a propellor wall art when done :)

First trip out in the cruiser this happened to me took out Rad.
but no other damage. could not find replacement plastic at the time so picked up a used one (OEM) and replaced (Rad,hoses, thermostat& and hoses while in there. did'nt know if PO had done any in a while.

Still should replace it P/N anyone?

So where is everyone ordering these 6 blade plastic fans from ?

Marks Off Road had them...

I think that you will need the fan-clutch-style shroud as well....

I ran the plastic 6 blade as a replacement for the Cuisinart blade without changing the shroud. 4-blade metal and 6-blade plastic are the same diameter. The 7-blade fan-clutch type is about 1" larger in diameter and requires the matching shroud.
And I agree that with LC909 being in SoCal, Mark's is the choice...he may sell you a 3 pack;)
Don't forget the spacer!!!

Toyota stocks the upgraded fan blade, but the shroud is not available.

(HIJACK) Landcrusher I am pretty certain we published a photo of you and your truck in the latest May/June issue at the Calico Cleanup!

Yes that was the wife and I in the same 45 that blew the fan blade Thanks

Hey I was just looking for a replacement. same thing happened with no damage anywhere I could see. Maybe going with a plastic one now.

Surprised to see a toyota fan do that but hey...40 years old:p

btw, a few years ago I got a letter from GM saying the factory fan in the truck I had could let go at any time and injure me. There was a recall on them. I sold the truck before fixing it but told the guy I sold it too...just thought I'd mention that for the chevy v-8 guys.

Might want to check your motor mounts too just to be sure the engine didn't lift and cause the contact with the shroud and subsequent fan blade fracture. I destroyed a perfectly good plastic fan this way.

When I had a metal fan shroud my frame flex was bad enough that when I'd climb a stump the fan would hit the shroud. I made a new one out of a semi-truck mud flap and gave it some room to account for frame flex. I run a 4blade solid chevy fan. Makes LOTS of noise at high rpms but doesn't bend when submerged like plastic fans which head straight for the radiator when they encounter water:doh:
