I made more progress today.

Finished removing the top.

Removed the front seats.

Removed the tranny hump, which was held in with 4 of the original 12 bolts.

Was then able to remove the PTO winch gear case and the adapter.

I need the sleeve, washer & lock nut. (If anyone has spares, please let me know.)

I also snipped off the coolant hoses that were in the cab. (The rear heater is long gone.) Made a coolant and gear oil mess all over the floor.

Discovered I need a new radiator because my overflow tube is broken at the radiator neck. D'oh!! Any radiator recommendations, please let me know.
I'd have it fixed, so long as the core is fine. The local shop here would charge less than $100. I had my original rear heater core repaired for $80. It's worth calling around.

More progress today. I pulled the front axle mostly apart. Had to stop for a bit to focus on some work things.

I've got a bunch drum brake parts that I no longer need. Gonna get them sorted out and up in classifieds.

Sweet that you bought the 40 from the museum. I had thought about that one long and hard. Looked like a real fair deal. Once your are done, they will probably want it back! Keep the pics coming. Nice 40! (And Tundra)

Thanks for the props, man! I'm having fun with this rig.

I got a pile of parts ready to go back on with. Gonna be nice to do some reassembly after all this tear down.

The MP40 now wears a plate from the cowboy state!

I'm worried about my transfer case. Is there a piece broken off there at 9:00?

Found another problem. Radiator overflow tube separated from neck. Gotta get that fixed.

The radiator was serviced at Lebo's. Maybe in Phoenix?

I gotta think that chip in the t case is no big deal, you have sealing surface and lots of thread for clamping force. Kind of envious of the WY residence, great people and beautiful country. I have some old family friends in Buffalo as well as Kaycee (Actially Barnum but really no town there anymore). Gotta love that you have more speed goats than people!

Agreed on the place and the case..

All it needs to support is the stamped cover since you removed the PTO.

I pulled the radiator. Gonna have Ace Radiator give it a look. Might be fixable. Might not be worth fixing.

Has anyone bought a new OEM radiator recently? Camelback Toyota says OEM Toyota radiator NLA. I've also heard that they are available. So I'm confused.

I reached out to Beno on the issue. He's traveling now. I hope to hear from him soon.

Anyone tried the CCOT unit?

Any other suggestions?

Got the old axle housing kinda cleaned up. Drained the gear oil. Pulled the axles. Pulled the seals. Got the angle grinder revved up and clearanced for the bigger birfs.

I'm almost ready to start putting the front end back together.

Oh - one more thing: I received my bolt kit from Overland Metric. @davework It's a beauty. A whole mess of bolts in a neat plastic organizer. I'll be posting up how they work out as I go along.

The OEM unit is definitely available, but for some strange reason the system has a hard time tracking the superscessions. I got the pn from beno.

FWIW, radiators don't travel well. So if you can buy it locally, I'd suggest making an exception to supporting a MUD vendor on this one.

Actually they do travel well Mark when a vendor creates a shipping box for them-- Which I have.

16400-66040
16400-49356

I have VERY specific packaging to ship both of these.

@beno I sent you an email on this topic.

@65swb45 did you see my post above about the chipped transfer case? What do you think?
