The original rotors from my disc axle have six small holes. See pic above. These rotors were bolted to the wheel hubs with 6 bolts. Is it okay to re-use the bolts?

I got 2 new rotors from O'Reilly's today. The 6 holes are larger. The rotor will center itself on the wheel hub okay. But are the oversized holes okay?

@Poser can you weigh in on this? Thanks.

The new rotors are the 79 and later style that use the lug studs to hold them on the hub and two bolts in the smaller holes. You had the 76 to 78 style rotor that bolts to the back of the hub. i have those on my 1st 74 disc conversion but will use the later version on my 2nd 74 front disc conversion with mini-truck knuckles...
HTH,
Will

So is there a problem using the later style rotors on my earlier wheel hubs?

I would return the return the rotors you have and get the correct ones for your truck. The oversize bolt holes could cause issues with the rotor moving fore and aft on the hub during braking due to the larger holes in the rotor which don't match the mounting bolts as well as movement radially around the hub for the same reason (bolt too small for the larger holes). Not an expert here but that's what I would do...

Thanks @tlc762 Thats what I was thinking, too. I told them when I bought them that they didn't look right.

Glad you are going to get the correct rotors.

O'Reilly lists them as disco'd, so I'm back on the hunt.

I went FJ60 vented rotors and 94 v-6 4Runner calipers on my disk swap. Those are the parts I asked for at orileys

Thanks Steve!

Made more progress today. Finished removing the PTO winch.

Removed the coolant doohickey atop the block.

Greased the birfs and installed them onto the half axles.

Got a loaner centering tool in the mail. My next project is to center the axles and get the front axle assembled.

New radiator should be here Monday. Then I can start putting the cooling system back together.

I'd like to open up the emergency brake and make sure all is well in there. Might do that, too.

Kinda done for today though. Got a few other things to do.

Alfred I can't wait any longer. I imagine you are aware that there is another MP40? Every time I get an alert about your build I think of this......

Well, dang! Maybe I should rename my truck. MP40 means Museum Piece 40. I like the nod to the fact that it came form the museum. Maybe I should call it the Heritage 40, or maybe I should just call it Dan!

:-)

I think you should get an MP40 and rack it in the MP40.....Good to be prepared....

That bib hinge has a rounded off bolt. I loosened the bib and was working to get that stubborn thing off when I literally fell off my stool. I inadvertently yanked all the electrical connections loose while I fell down. I landed on my butt in a heap. I'll pry need electrical assistance from @Coolerman to get this mess sorted out!

See the driver side terminal strip? It literally blew apart!
