Hand Throttle on 79 FJ40

Does anyone have a '79 FJ40 with a hand throttle? If so, could you post some pix of how it hooks up? I know it hooks to the gas pedal, but I would like to see the pedal and any brackets, etc. that are needed to connect the cable up.

I am trying to gather up pieces to put one in mine, and I have a gas pedal that I think is the one I need, but I've never seen one installed.

If anyone has a setup that they want to sell, I would be very interested in that too.

I saw a slick one mounted to the gearshift that was made with an index shifter from a bicycle. Positive clicks.

Second pic is of the Bracket that bolts to under dash lip.

Install the cable and there you go!

When I looked on SOR there appeared to be another bracket that was up under the dash that held the outer jacket of the cable. Have you seen anything like that?

The pedal I have is very similar to the one in your picture, but the end where the cable would hook is different. I think it's off of a 78, do you know if there was a difference between the 78 and 79 pedals? I tried to figure out how to post a pic of it, but I couldn't seem to make it work...

I'm probably not going to order anything right away... I have a Weber on my rig right now and the pedal was converted to a cable linkage system, so I will have to find and install an OEM carb before the hand throttle will even work on my truck.

I just saw the gas pedal on ebay and figured I wouldn't ever get another chance to buy one, so I did.

SOR sells the pedal new and used, as well as cable. Didn't seem unobtanium when I ordered.

I've got a factory unit on my '82 FJ45. I can take a pic if you want. It's missing the cable but the knob, bracket and cable sleeve are there.

I forgot about that bracket. Heres a picture of it.

It holds the cable end inline with throttle.

Every time I see the parts you have, I wonder whether I should even bother calling my project a "restoration"...

I don't suppose you know where I could get one of those? I think SOR lists that bracket as "discontinued".

here's a pic of mine that connects to the throttle body. Was simple and easy to install, had to mod a bit to make it fit but not hard. This is more of a universal type rather than the stock one. Got it off a guy here or on pirate, can't remember. It's the knob bottom left with the engine on it.

You also need the little plactic clip that slips on the pedal in the square hole to hold the barrel on the endl of the hand throttle cable in place. I don't have a pic but that piece is easy to come by, SOR should have them.
