He won't know. With the TRD SC'r the IAT sensor is before the SC.

I added a air temp sensor between the charger and the intake on the corner pipe. So I’m in the know.

Yup. Becuase I have a stand alone Haltech ECU and that sensor goes directly to the Haltech and the OBDII come out of the Haltech.
WAIT! Your Haltech feeds data to the OBD2? I thought that didn’t work. I’m new to this, but I thought the Haltech replaced the Toyota computer making the OBD2 go away.

No not quite, the Haltech can use wifi or Bluetooth to put out an OBDII signal to a phone or tablet. The haltech does not feed the stock OBDII connector.

I don’t even know where the obd2 plug is . I just bought a cable that connects to the haltech and give me a port that looks like the obd2 that I can connect a WiFi dongle to.

Ok. I didn’t even think you guys had obd2.

I have this coming out of the ECU now

That is an 16 pin OBD connector. But I'm not very confident your truck was originally OBDII equipped

Finally got a WiFi dongle and can see what’s going on.

It’s not pretty. The air temp is between 75 C and 89 C when I am giving it. Was told it needs to be around 50C

Really need to work on the inter cooler.

Ok thanks. I have no idea. All this technology is new to me.

Whoa!! 89C intake air temps are very hot. 170F(76C) is the absolute hottest I like to see air temps on a gas vehicle. Yes please get some intercooler or even water/methanol injection going. Did they setup the knock sensors?

Yes knock sensor is set up that’s why I went with this ecu in the first place as the piggy back ecu didn’t have the knock sensor option.

this has been an interesting thread, I'm learning quite a bit about OBD-II, knock sensors, ECUs and stuff.

Does your rig have a snorkel? I saw my intake temps drop drastically when I installed mine. Now they hover ~10*F above ambient temp. Also, I ran without the small bezels under the headlights for a few weeks prior to the snorkel install, that made an impact on the temps and air flow in the engine bay area as well, but that was more at cruising speeds and less at off road speeds.

Can you post the reference of the haltech?
I have a euro spec fzj80 so I’m interested.
Is it a plug n play?
Thanks

Once the sun went down luckily so did the temperature.

Not yet. I’m looking at sourcing one of those stainless snorkels from down under. Still working that out. Was told of a washer trick on the hood to raise the part of the hood on the hind he by the windscreen to allow hot air to flow out. Will be trying that until I have the IC installed.

Sure let me get the harness plug and play part number for you and I will Share that.

Yes it’s plug and play.
