That is an 16 pin OBD connector. But I'm not very confident your truck was originally OBDII equipped

I was reading about the OBD 2. Apparently only American spec cars had them.

If this does come out plug and play for USDM, this is a GAME CHANGER!!
Op stated earlier that this is the beta unit. Supposed to be compatable according to him. I’m a little psyched.

A small update. Was told to put washers between the hood hinge to raise it a touch to let the air in the engine compartment to escape.

Low and behold it reduced the air temp tremendously.

So much so that I think I will add some more washers.

Time for a scoop!

Time for a scoop!

Not really for a scoop but have been thinking about making a permanent gap without the washers. Cutting and making a bend in the bonnet. Like a step. Think it would look cool also. My only concern is all that water doing into the engine compartment when she gets a wash. Can’t be good

I want to make the vent look like this.

so it is only visible from the cabin and in the middle of the hood near the windscreen.
in the third picture, you will see the profile as seen from the cabin.

this is an artistic rendering and will be less pronounced once its made

I like that plan. Hood sticking up in back suggests the hinges are broken.

Any updates? How's it running?

Hi it’s running fine. Stalls sometimes when Corning to a stop at a traffic light and shifting down.

Still need to install an inter cooler but before I do that there is a ticking noise that needs to be addressed that I have been told could be the crankshaft :bang:

So will investigate and report back.

Does the stalling only happen before the coolant temp comes all the way up to temp? Before mine was dialed in. There was a coolant temp right around 157f that the truck would die at idle. It was totally fine off idle but at idle the idle control motor just didn't like what it was seeing.

Yes it does. Also dies when starting the car sometimes

A little update.

I have changed the engine to a low miles Japanese import 1fzfe with 117,000 km on it. Had to remove a lot of junk from the Japanese spec engine that we didn’t need.

The old engine developed a very back knocking sound which turned out to be the crank bearings. A couple had vanished. So the crank would rattle like hell on a cold start.

I have since leaned that I need to turn on the key let the fuel pump prime and then complete the final turn on the switch to start the engine. Otherwise the engine fires at very high rpm and I think that was the reason for the dry starts and the mashing of the old bearings.

Took the opportunity to install a new engine hardness as the old one was cut up to make injector adapter.
While at it we installed 450cc injectors that plug and play.

Also upgraded the clutch to a 1stage clutch as the factory plate was burning out to fast.

Still no development on the inter cooler.
