Sweet! Did you weld new steel in to the inside of the door to cover the hole?

i also like the shaved door handles, i got get some of those

I threw a Krylon it. Looks a bit weird without a windshield frame. The glassshop should that done tomorrow, hopefully third time's a charm and they don't break it, or cut it wrong again.

The window crank panel stuck out quite a bit so I trimmed it out and added a panel. The peice I capped the top with is a straight strip, I don't remeber the width before I welded it in, but I haven't put it in the pass door, if anyone wants the mesurement.

im planning on doing this to a set or newer doors tomorow. i hope i can weld as good as you can

Don't try to weld more than an inch or so at a time or you'll warp the heck out of 'em. Work a section than move to another so the first has time to cool before going back to it. If you like I can send you the measurements I used. The only problem I can forsee with using my dimensions on a newer door could be the position of the latch. I ended up with 3 sets of doors but they are all older so I can't check that.

i would really apreciate the measurements. that would help alot. as for the latches i decided to scrap them and just make some slide latches so i can use my stock '72 doors without haveing to change latches.

I'll run back to the shop (my pass door is still there and unfinished), give me an hour or so.

dont go out of your way or anything. i can wait a day or so

Here ya go. The top strip is about 36" long, I think that is the only thing I didn't list. The cardboard template is what I used to replace the window crank panel, I did cut out the inside of the door there, it helped keep the top strip a continous width. 100 grit sanding pads in my 4" angle grinder and a file are what I used to clean up the outside edge on the finished door.

Thanks for the interest,

Aaland

i wasnt expecting all this so quick. thanks you again for all this it will really help me.
