Any chance the TX 550h+ engine could make its way to the GX? Trying to think what else Toyota could use that engine for…..couldn’t have been a one-off just for the TX model.

I believe it is also the only powertrain for the Toyota Century SUV. Could have been initially developed just for the Century and then re-used on the TX. I am surprised not to see it used more broadly in the Lexus lineup - especially for the RX which is the most important vehicle in the Lexus stable.Any chance the TX 550h+ engine could make its way to the GX? I think the T24A in the LC is a toyota developed turbo (based on some googling). Other than that guys video I don’t see anything online about who makes the turbo in the V35A…but it’s pretty irrelevant.I'm thought Toyota said they were building them in-house in the marketing materials somewhere. But that can mean a lot of things.
But I've read the turbos say IHI on the side. So probably IHI![]()
LX700h was trademarked earlier this year ( though that doesn't necessarily mean its coming to market but still an indicator of what could possibly come within 2 years )I still think they won't do a lc300 or 250 with the V6 hybrid. The reason is the transfer case. I don't think there are any awd transfer cases rated for that much torque from aisin and I don't think they'll put a non awd case in the Lexus models. Maybe the 300/250 models, but even then it's a tricky proposition to have a top spec engine without AWD and base with it.
The turbo 4 hybrid makes more sense. Even if they want more power they can just up the battery size and output. Turbo 4 hybrid likely going to be about a second quicker than the TTV6 to 60 already.
It's hard to see a big net benefit to the LX by going hybrid v6. A 10mpg improvement would be a big deal though. LX700 makes sense as a hybrid v6 by naming convention. I don't think they'd offer less net power though. I can't personally confirm anything and no one will know until they officially announce it.
In the Middle East we won't be getting the hybrid LC250...we will get the non hybrid version instead.
Hybrid would be a tough sell honestly unless they come out with something that has closer to 500hp (which won't happen - atleast not anytime soon) that sits above the Seqouia/Tundra hybrid power wise.It's hard to see a big net benefit to the LX by going hybrid v6. The Lexus LX as far as I know outsells the Seqouia globally (as of 2022 anyway).
Seqouia is only a North America product at the moment (used to be sold in ME between 2009-2016).
For the US Market though without a doubt a Seqouia based Lexus would sell better than the LX.
It wouldn't be called LX though..maybe JX.
US dealers have been asking lexus to make one for years.
I can't find good data on LX sales globally. About half of all lexus models globally are sold in the USA. Toyota sold about 5,700 LX in the USA 2023 through September and 14,000 Sequoia during the same period. If the LX sales to Lexus total sales ratio is comparable to the USA in other markets the Sequoia would outsell the LX globally by about 30%. But I have no idea what global LX sales are.
I'm not sure how the numbers work out at Toyota though. The LX is a trim of the LC300 while the Sequoia is sort of a stand-alone product. Comparing one trim to a different model isn't necessarily apples to apples.
If the Sequoia were offered globally - hard to know how well it would do. Size wise it's a direct competitor with the Nissan Patrol Y62. So, anywhere the y62 is sold the Sequoia could presumably also fit size wise. I think it would sell pretty well in those markets as a larger more powerful option in Toyota's lineup.
Probably would need a different name. But who knows. Toyota isn't always consistent with naming conventions. I'd call it an LX700-XL. Or maybe just LXXL.

So why the hybrid at all if there is no MPG improvement at all over the 3.5tt that just doesn't make any sense...Was at North American HQ yesterday and they walked back the 27mpg number.
The hybrid does not increase mpg or range.
I would get the Lexux over the LC250 for the 3.5TT alone. If I did not tow s trailer I might consider the I4.
