Last 2.

You can see the tiger top frame on the rig... ready to drill snaps and go.

This picture gives a good visual of the need for this to be done.

that wobble sounds like loose wheel/trunion bearings to me... jack up a tire and shake it to see if you can feel any play...

Could be from lack of caster, but a 2.5" lift won't normally do that, extended shackles can.

I hate rollbar padding unless done really well...

Have fun!

Man it looks like a million bucks with all the fixing and upgrades you have done so far. :). My question is where do find the time to do all these projects.:)

I think that is all it has. Just shackel lift. I'll look at it more and lift the truck up and check the trunions.

thanks

Thanks FJwagon,

Fenders = 8 hours + $20 (over a 3 day period) after the kids go to sleep.
Rollcage = 5 hours + $65. (4 day rainy weekend).
Seat covers = 20 minutes + $40.

When winter gets here, I want to replace the metal under the door to the hinges of the rear doors. Something like $900 for the metal? I'm going to check out Draken's 40 this weekend. He had his wheels powdercoated through les schwab for a good price. I may do the same... I have around 8 spare wagon wheels in the back 40 that I'll use. These are all bling fixes though. I am only getting 8volts to the starter... 2 PO's ago put a 12v/8v switch in with electric points. I have to check that out and fix the hole in the water jacket still too.

nice.. coming along

so, have you tested the dual tank setup yet? put fuel in the rear auxillary tank and switched that dash toggle?

you sure have been busy on that truck! the fenders and both front and rear bumpers were like that when i bought it but i admitt to the front turn signals and marker lights as the stock ones were broken. when i bought the 40 their was water halfway up the inside of the doors so drilled drain holes in both doors. the only rust i remember was in the trany hump but i replaced it with one from a four speed truck if you look you'll see that it doesn't line up at the back.

Yes, its a fun rig... first 40. And having all the equipment / spare parts makes it easy to work on. I am going to turn the side running marker lights into side blinkers along with the stock blinkers.. might swap motors with Brando... while this one is out fix the hole in the water jacket permanantly and give this one to brando.... Just dont know yet. So far have about 15 hours into where it is now. Another 100 hours and I'll be happy with it.

Mike...Guess where I just got back from???

Your house...I drove took the 40 out for a spin, b/c of the great rainy weekend we're having and saw that the 40th and 40 were both gone...did you notice my little msg I left behind? I had the Cubans with me....I would have called but your cell number mysteriously vanished from my cell phone. Can you PM it to me?

Last night I put the top back on because of seattle's bad weather lately. Its kinda tough walking the top from the ground to the rig. Did it in 10 minutes and slapped the doors on.

Few pics from my camera on my phone.
