I thought I'd ask who you used to re-plate your parts? Post up what you were charged, whether you sent in clean or dirty, and what the turn around time was. If you do it in house, share what you use in your set up.

I used TFC plating in Portland, OR at the recommendation of ccpilot. I degrease, blast, then wire wheel all my stuff. Price is insanely reasonable at $125 for an 80lb batch. See pics below.

I also use at home Caswell’s Platings Copy Cad system for all the misc. stuff I forget. It’s been easy to work with so far but does take some experimenting to get the desired results.

Wow, that’s a great deal on plating. Especially with parts that look so good. It’s hard to find places like that in New England, especially at a good price. The manifold will lose the zinc pretty quickly due to the heat, but it will get you a little more time before you see red rust.

I’ve used the Caswell kit with good results but it gets really tedious - especially the prep part.

@ClemsonCruiser just how clean did you get those small parts/bolts before sending them out? I've been working on a 5 gallon bucket of hardware (nuts and bolts mostly) and have degreased then tumbled (in walnut shells) most everything.

I was then planning on chasing the threads (with a thread restoring kit - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P6UNHE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) and then wire wheel.

Is my plan overkill or should I do more prep?

Also, how did you ship from SC to the plater? USPS flat rate?
