That would be cool @ToyotaMatt ! However I don't have the connector crimps, unless a pair of needle noses would work too?

The reason they get fuzzy is because there's a small vent hole in the inner rear fender right next to the plug location, and the plug itself kinda sits at the bottom of the inner fender... As water gets in there over many many cycles, it's just a matter of time before corrosion takes its toll.

Did a bunch of multi-stop errands yesterday, and it's running great.

so wait ...

what am i missing here ,,,?

They are soldered for now.. not sure if I want to mess with them to be honest. Let's see how it goes this week and go from there... @Spike Strip 's late night habits aside. :)

Been a week and no issues with starting up the rig - I am calling this fixed... for now!

Some zip-tie tech for you this afternoon. The flush-cut snips are essential here.

And ANOTHER radio swap, got tired of CDs and going to raw-dog it old school.

I put a Chinesium $3.50 amp in the 40 so I can get an aux in to hook up...my AM/FM Walkman. 🦖

This is the headunit that came in my '89 pickup, it was a very not cool radio in highschool. In true 1993 fashion, it got replaced with a pullout Alpine CD player that I saved up a lot of money for lol

Awesome! And you had to lug that stupid thing around, leave it in your locker, hope it doesn't get jacked while you're in class... yeah those were the days! I spent a lot of coin in 1995 on a Sony head unit with the detachable face for my 1984 Accord, installed that puppy in my parents' driveway. It was amazing driving around with a CD player (!!), making trips up the coast from LA. Think I spent $200 on it, that's like $800 today or something insane?

Side note - spent some time in the junkyard today, and couldn't help but notice how the materials have gotten so much worse over the years. A 1989 Camry has better materials in it, that have lasted longer, than any of the late-model sh*t. I saw a 1990 Toyota pickup that was picked to the literal bones, while all the 2000 and newer stuff was just sitting there, basically complete and destined for the shredder as-is. And this is environmental progress... /rant
