Hi all,
I am trying out Ted's suggestion from the Home Depot Lowes roofing material. I had to replace the electric lock on my wife's car and was inside the door already, so I decided to try the material out. It is much thinner but it does work here's a picture of it. It goes on fairly easily and seems to adhere well. I am hoping for better sound as I like crisp sound and bass like the band is in the back seat....

You start by peeling back about an inch of material and lining it up against the first one you put in and then stick it on. My typical measurements were about 11"-13" in length x 6". I used a small block of plywood to make sure it had good adherence to the metal. It took about 1 hr to do the door. It does have less "tinniness", but it is not as thick, about 1/4 as thick as the kno-knoise stuff I used.
As some additional comments, my wife's car is pretty quiet, so I really do not need as much as I needed for my truck.
However, I broke this down to cost per square foot.
the stuff at HD/Lowes is $1.44/Square foot at 1/4 the thickness, so if you multiply by 4, your at about $6.00/Square foot, plus 4x the installation headache.
One thought, to keep the costs down is to only double it up and stick two sheets together before installing it inside the door.
The stuff Steve and I installed is $4.00/square foot.
So beware of the perceived cost differences and decide based on your noise needs....

GXes have factory sound deadening so the new stereo pumps in mine. This is a really good idea though!

GCC forum has been kinda dead this week. That being said, is nobody subscribed to the Events thread in the stickies to see my latest post? Wheeling/Camping Oct 5-8

:bang: Didn't read my thread very carefully, did ya now.
Of course you're welcome to schedule anything you'd like any time it's convenient for the majority, but the 11th I'll be in Hot Springs for Southern Cruiser Crawl so my request for a trip is set for 5th - 8th. I'm only asking where I can go that'll get the most attendance THAT weekend.

The old and the new. Sorry I called your truck old Onur....

Sent from another Galaxy

No offense Sam, but you know who the winner is.

On another note.... Thanks to Onur for the front and rear axle parts. Everything was perfect!!

nope, not really. Thats the weekend after Windrock so it's highly unlikely the :princess: will be down for 2 weekends in a row.

Oh yeah, I didn't even realize that since the weekends are "a month apart". I'm going to be wheeling that entire week no matter what, it's just a matter of where and with who. I'll likely end up in the Cove in the Taco I think. We'll see though, Clutchee is awaiting word to see if he can get more time off than just for the Crawl and, if so, we're going to Clayton! Can I get a AMEN!!!

Well the Tundra/Cummins story is all over the interwebs. Cummins apparently said that they have enough production to supply 2 manufacturers with the 5.0 V8 turbo diesel. I'm assuming that Nissan's share of the market isn't very big and we all know that Toyota's is not. 300 hp and around 550 tq? I could get down on that. :hillbilly:

That's what I'm talking about. Love me some Shiners. Everything they make is pretty good, except for that "picnic beer" that they tried a few years ago. It had a smokey bbq flavor. Yuck!!!

Dad, me and Dave crashed John's shop and finished the Jeep. I swear to you dad actually teared up a little as we loaded it on the trailer, it was awesome.

I glad you guys finally got the transmission finally fixed up. How many times did you put it in and take it back out 4 times?

Man I miss my 40 (in the back ground) did you leave it sitting in the yard in the rain?
