While I explore an alternative, anyone got a line on 42601-60262-03? Need 4, maybe a 5th. I hear a legend by the name of cdan was able to order some for a few folks, but that was a while back.

that is a 35x10.5x16

I would not use that wheel as a primary without running wheel spacers. It would be roadworthy, sure, but I don't like the idea of narrowing the track width of my truck by a good 2-3 inches. Would be good to go if you run wheel spacers. The old-school tacoma/4runner spare steelie would be another alternative if you prefer the traditional steelie look (it looks like the FJC steelie, but 16" instead of 17"). Measurements are probably pretty similar to my spare, so spacers would be a good idea for either one.

I’m running “narrow” 35” tires.
Common width is 12.5”.
The narrowest 35” tire I could find were 11.5”.
Nitto TrailGrappler.
I am very happy with the tire.

What size are you running?

I ran those Tacoma steelies years ago with 255 85 16 bfg km2’s and no wheel spacers. Did not have flares at the time so the wheels lined right up to the edge.

Jsmo, this is great help. I’ll run a 235/80 or a 255/80 if budget allows. Flares are coming off. This is my second 80, and I’m looking for a different experience than the first. Running narrow and light Is the goal.

oops, meant 235/85 or 255/85

I am running the 35x10.5x17 Kenda with 1.25” spacers and an IronMan 2.5-3” lift.

I like the tires. Noise isn’t bad but they are a little sketchy at highway speeds. It probably has more to do with the fact that every bushing under my truck needs replaced but I do like the tire.

255/85 16 - The proper 33" tire for an 80.
Unfortunately, the Ironman brand does not make their M/T in that size, tho it's tread pattern appears to be the most practical for many different terrains, excluding snow (too few sipes, if any).

I agree the 255 is likely the ideal and I would lean to a 255/85/16, but limited choices means $$$ for a set. choices for most are around $250 a tire. In comparaison, in the much more competitive 235/85 size, a good tire is from 125-175. I need to get 5, all tires are shot on that cruiser I got. The 235 is also found on many shelves, and I can match my trailer later on to run the same tire

Just be sure to see the 235/85's mounted first. Like another said previously, beading a 235 on an 8" is dodgey at best. And after I saw them on another ride, they appeared to be entirely susceptible to falling off the bead in moderate to extreme side loading. And I think you'll also be limited in how much you can air down for the same reasons.

Yes, 255/85 16's are expensive and usually special order too. Interco TSL's come in that size for a little under $200/ea, but their sidewalls are not as robust as BFGs. Same with Goodyear M/T's - soft sidewalls. But that may not be a deal breaker for you, being in FL clay.

the 235s would go on the same Tacoma 16x7 steely jsmo posted above. I find comments for the Milestar Patagonia in 235/85r16 reported to be a full 32 inch mounted when new. I think I’d be happy with that.

If you cant source any in the salvage yards and are going non oem I really like the looks of the Wheel Vintiques.

I see. Copy that.
And just for the record, I'm running the Patagonia A/T's - loaded with sipes they are snow monsters. 👍

I think 235 will look like they are getting crushed by the truck, maybe I am wrong. My fear...

Maxxis also makes a 255/85-16 in their Bighorn line. I run the 315 version of these tires and have been very happy with them. But it is not a DD though. However, they are not $250 each. More like a $175 each.

Got the 4 wheels, Tacoma 16x7 (decided against the Tundra 17x7.5), gotta make a final decision about the tires. I initially started the build thinking of the Toyo M-55 in 255/85r16 on the 16x7 wheel. These dang tires will just not go on sale. So looking at 235 options. I have the Grabber AT/X on a VW Vanagon by lack of other choices on 14 inch wheels, does fine but not sure that's the best choices for a LandCruiser that I want to get on trails. Only looking at 235/85 or 255/85 for now. If anyone knows how to get deals on M-55s, please let me know. I don't work for a logging company. :)

255/85 16 BFG KM or KOs - just bite the bullet. The M55's are silly expensive. Not sure why, but they certainly don't have an aggressive tread.
