Bought a set of JBL GT608C 2ohm mid-woofer & tweeter combo; comes with component cross over.

How much is speaker performance hindered if I don"t utilize the included cross over? Goal was to keep it quick & simple to just replace the blown woofer, use existing wiring, factory tweeter etc..

Factory tweets have a sort of crossover on them through the use of an inline cap, so I wouldn't worry about those. I'd be more concerned with blowing the amp by using a 2 ohm mid.

If you are using the factory tweeter, you should be good since, as noted in the preceding post, it has a resistor wired into the line.

Installing the crossovers is very simple, and you can easily avoid modifying the factory wiring. There is just enough room between the door panel and door for the crossover on the raised pannel immediately beside the woofer. You will need locate the crossover towards the bottom of the panel. This thread does a good job of documenting the process:

Thank you for the replies.

Speakers work and sound decent with out the crossover.

My objective was to simply replace the blown woofers- and retain stock tweeters( they work fine) and utilize the factory connectors- which took all of about 10min to swap over to new speakers. If the cross over makes
enough difference to improving sound quality I will install them.

S.spirit: the speakers that came out are 2ohm, and replaced with 2 ohm;
Am I missing something? What could blow my amp?

As long as the ones that came out were in fact 2 ohm you should be fine. I haven't pulled mine and assumed they were 4 ohm like most everything else in car audio sans subs. Leave it to Toyota to buck the trend.

Yeah factory speakers are 2ohm-
