Luckily, I had an intercooler that I was originally going to use on Crusty (1HZ'd 60) that was too big. This one seems like it will work. Unfortunately, the intercooler had 3" in/out ports and my piping kit was for 2.5". So, I ordered some 2" to 3" adapters and will hopefully get the truck back on the road this week.

Finally was able to button everything up and got the truck back on the road. I did have couple of leaks that I found with some soapy water. I also had an issue with the quick disconnect fitting used on the boost gauge. It was leaking and the truck wasn't able to go past 10psi. After fixing all of that, I am now able to boost to 18-20 psi rather easily.

Pic of the IC piping.

I was very surprised that I only had to hack off the lower mounting leg on the grill. I was worried that I had to clearance out the plastic on the backside of the grill, but that wasn't the case.

While installing the turbo, I think I must have bumped the AC line near the air filter housing which resulted in my AC not working. Over the weekend with some help from @bottombracket , I was able to swap in new o-rings and pumped the system down. I used about 2.5 cans of refrigerant and was able to get the temps down into the 40's. Glad that is working with the hot part of the year right around the corner.

Betty was lookin’ GOOD this weekend.
Glad you got the temps down.

A quick update on Betty. I noticed a large spot of red coolant under Betty about two weeks ago and could only deduce that it was leaking from the water pump. So, I ordered a water pump, timing belt, tensioner and spring from Partsouq.

I noticed that the water pump that was in it was a GMB from Japan. These are the cheapest alternatives that Partsouq sells. When I was ordering parts, I was tempted to go cheap. Glad I didn't because this one failed early (about 40k kilometers since the timing belt/pump were done by the original PO).

Forgot to post a pic of the cam gear that needed to come off. As you can see, not much room to use an impact. I ended up using a swivel joint .

This is how it looks without the cam gear and the tensioner.

Pic of the dong-shaped GMB water pump. It is interesting to see that this pump has a metal impeller compared to the Toyota, which uses a plastic one.

Clean up time. I used a razor blade and a wire brush to clean up the sealing area. Also, all the FIPG on the plate to the right (in front of the injection pump) needed to be cleaned off.

Boy, what a pain in the ass it was to install the spring tensioner. I had to take breaks in between attempts. I swear it was a damn workout getting it into place. I even made two tools to help install it, but ended up just using my mini vice grips.

Oh yeah, got new v-belts too from the local Toyota dealership. The discount is pretty good and you can pick them up locally.

You’re welcome, told you it was a good deal with no shipping. Nice work, she sounded great this weekend.
