..... beaten relentlessly, much hotter exhaust temps with a turbo, yes a little wrap on it but still super hot. But still feel amazing. Give the boys in Colorado a call. @sleeoffroad

i kind of thought that's why you told them your weight. so they could valve them correctly. and i did tell them over 7k lbs. and still, they sucked. my ome's were ancient and one literally fell apart and they were 100x better than the fox shocks, so i was thrilled to buy adam tolmans used omes to replace my fox shocks.

then i went slinky

Unfortunately at 125 bucks a piece there won't be any custom valving involved. Think about it, it's the same price is OME and bilstein but yes I do agree they should told you to go to 2.5 with valving option or turn you away.

They can alter the nitrogen charge for certain applications, but no, no custom valving.

I'm working on my own franken-lift and need some input. I'm planning on getting the discussed Fox 2.0 shocks for my '91. The rear is easy, going to be getting some med OME's for the rear so I'll be getting the fox shock Part #: 985-24-073 for the rear for 1.5-2.5" lift.

Here's the question...waiting to hear back from another 80 guy who I'm hoping will sell me his front OME springs and he thinks they're heavies and I'm going to be adding a 1.75" spacer to that. So I should get the front shocks for the 3-4" lift, correct? Fox Part #: 985-24-076

I would just get the longer ones. Out of curiosity, why add a spacer to the front springs? Why not just buy a longer front spring?

I think I have some 850Js lying around somewhere...

Definitely a bit of a noob and suspension is a bit of voodoo to me. Want to avoid stink-bug look. Won't longer springs cause issues with spring retention?

I'm running the med rear and heavy front springs with the "1.5-2.5" shocks right now. Do you have a bunch more weight up front necessitating the spacer? The heavy springs aren't really meant to be taller, they're meant to still maintain 2.5" of lift at a heavier weight than the med springs, so that why I went that route. I have a winch and dual batteries up front for now and I love the way it sits

Here's the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Truck is a 91 - essentially bone stock except for some 33's. Now, as much as I'd prefer to just call Slee and order the full kit for $1000 I don't have that kind of money.

Was talking with another 80 owner on FB and he offered me a set of rear med OME springs for $100, felt it was a great deal so I took him up on it, currently awaiting shipment. Another guy said he may have some front OME heavies, that's still an unknown transaction. Either way I figured that since I wasn't purchasing a comprehensive kit I might as well look at other options for the remaining parts. I expect that I can get a good deal on the fox springs from a buddy so was leaning that way. Also, I'm lucky that the fox motorsports division is about 10 min from my house.

Now, I've always heard that OME causes a bit of a stinkbug look and I'd rather be level, thus the spacers. Future plans are the standard... front and rear bumpers, winch, roof rack, perhaps second batter. No plans for third row, fridge, or drawer system. Expected use is mostly camping/overlanding... rock crawling as necessary to get from point A to point B. I plan on driving mostly conservatively, no jumps, nothing crazy...can't afford to fix s*** that gets broken from stupidity.

@fuzzywuzzy Why are you looking at different length shocks for the front vs. rear? And is 1.75" spacer for the front with OME heavies a typo?!? You're going to end up with reverse stinkbug!

I have a 91 with TJM Springs and FOX 2.0 IFP shocks and I DONT LIKE THEM. They are not made specifically for the LC's. I should have waited and spent a little more money on something else. I would prefer to go back to my TJM tiger shocks if I could.

I know money is tight but save a little longer for something else IMO. Go with the Slee.

@IanB - if I got med's for the front instead of heavies and stayed with med in the back end as well will the rear end stick up?

My understanding is the lift height between med & heavy is the same, the springrate is the difference. The heavies will deal with extra weight of bumpers, winches, etc without sagging. That being said, if you don't have the weight, then the heavies will ride more harshly. A 1.75" spacer with a heavy spring in front is going to raise the front 1.75" above where the front would normally ride with the heavy springs, which I expect will be much higher than the rear.

Sit down and think about where this truck is headed in the short term (as far as mods and added weight specifically), and put together a shopping list of the parts (springs/shocks/castor correction/etc), and THEN start shopping around for deals. I don't think you'll be happy with the results if you just go around buying whatever you can get cheap, and you'll pay more to do it twice. There's scads of pics of ride heights with the various OME springs, but more important is the ride quality, springs matched to your weight and intended use are what you're after.

I had one of my FOX fronts, and both rears leak oil as well, stepped up to the ICON stage 1 kit and I'm very happy with it so far. Not cheap, but neither is having to replace shocks after a year or so.

I decided to order TJM adjustable, since I have TJMs progressive coils. I'll keep my fox rear until they blow too I guess. Rebuilding is almost as much as new shocks, and thats before shipping them to and from fox.

My OME's handle large whoops good but things like railroad tracks are so harsh if feels like my truck will break in half. It's when the shock has to compress quickly, or extend quickly, where it fails miserably. When I go over a speed bump its pathetic. I have about 7K miles on them.
Couldn’t agree more
