I recently was looking for a footman loop as I lost just one during reassembly.
To my surprise it was much more difficult to find one that I thought it would be.
So that Started me searching high and low to find an exact replacement for the OEM footman loop. I finally came across what I was looking for. And even discovered that it was in stainless steel which was a huge bonus. I found them on amazon.com of all places.
How about 6 bucks for 5 pieces. Here's the link.
Stainless Bimini top Strap Pad Eye footman's loop 5mm Heavy Duty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HRIYUIQ/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_BnL0wbQZ0NVA1
They even have the correct profile etc. I can't tell the difference between it and OEM.

They do look really good ... Great find

An FYI for those who Might not know

the two center footman loops on either corner are actually bent a tad

Very true. That's where I placed mine actually.
Just gave it a little help to bolt up. :)

Gotta get me some..............

Going to get some, what metric bolt size is needed for the threaded holes on the tub rail???

The tailgate ones are spot welded on. My rig is a FauxST, so I riveted the footman loops where I thought they looked best with respect to the straps on my OCD top. Drilling holes in Toyota steel is my 2nd least favorite drilling experience after cavities.

Any idea what the inside top rail of the tub factory tap on those holes are, I am using the corner two. Will get a pic up soon.

the early TG were bolted on, maybe pre 61? later were welded

My '73 have them bolted on to the rear quarter panels, even though it is a factory hard top.

If I put them back on, I was toying with the idea of using some industrial grade adhesive.

My friend just picked up 15 footman loops at Fastenal yesterday. 12 dollars and change for 15 loops, exact size as was on my '40 for the bikini straps. I think they are nickle plated?

As well as bolts? Or just to have them on there cosmetically? IMO there's no adhesive that would allow them to work as intended.

Cosmetic effect only; Unless someone can demonstrate an adhesive as strong as a resistance weld....

My 74 and 78 hard tops had these bolted on the corners. I assume most of the mid to late 70s models were bolt on and not welded.

Just got the ones you used crazy greek and they do not fit quite right..............how did you mod yours??

Thanks JohhnyC, I thought that was the spot as there are two threaded holes there.....................

Darn, so where should I mount a hold down for the straps????
