Just installed some new 17" x 8" FN FX PRO wheels in Matte Black on my 75. They look like the TRD Pro wheels but come in 8" wide which alllow for wider tires. Tires are BFG KO2 315 70 17's. No spacers used, just adjusted the steering stops outward about 1/4".
I ordered through Dustin at FN Wheels. Took about 8 weeks to receive including getting on the wait list and having them machined to 108.1 for the fittment of center caps for the larger hubs. Well worth the wait and my experience with Dustin @ FN Wheels was second to none.

The hinges are bolted to the quarter panel. There is a latch at the bottton and one in the middle that latches to the other swingout. The cooler is a Coleman with 2 hood latches riveted per side that holds it down. I hope that helps in answering your questions.

Perfect! Thanks Summit that's what I wanted to see. I have a '75 so my spare carrier is on the drivers side. I was given the carrier and hinges from an earlier model that fit the passenger side. I ended up passing it along to another cruiser in need of it..........Dang it!
