I think the problem is your after no binding at all. But how much travel is too much? If the goal is to max out the complete stroke of a 14" shock... For the absolute best road handling. You definately don't need 3 link. Here is a 4 link with panhard/5 link.

Entirely too much information.....................

Yeah, I guess I'd "settle" for "only" this amount of flex...
Sweet!!!

I just hope I can still drive to the mall.

Oh ya I almost forgot. Here is your Mothers Day sale. I'll going to let the first 5 FJ80 brackets sets go for $500 a pair. That's about a 35% discount. I will also discount the coilovers and bumps 10% as a package with the link arms at full price if all 5 sets go with in the month. Lets get this train rolling.

This has been a great thread, very informative and all...but I just wanna know if this is ever gonna materialize!

That's not much travel at all. You can get way more than that and still drive freeways very safely. But your statement about the very best road manners... The very best road manners would be to put your vehicle back to stock and the tune the shocks better. Or at least lower it as much as possible and add a stiffer sway bar.

I'm not saying a lift will make the truck suck balls. And I not saying that more travel will either.

I'm done with this. If people are convinced that coilovers mean your vehicle is going to suck the big one to bad for you. You are wrong. Like wise if you can't figure out how to 3link the front without is sucking either. Putting 14" coilovers on a vehicle and designing the geometry correctly is what I am good at. Take it or leave it.

This section of this forum has very few innovators, and even fewer people open to innovative discission. It is famous in the offroad community for this and im bowing out of the discussion as well.

I tried to approach this as improved road manners, but even that got argued right back to other versions of radius arms and views relatively exclusive to ih8fabbing.com

Ill be back when my phh cracks and my overheated engine blows the head gasket when i run to the store for a special tint of monstaliner that matches my testicles residing permanently in my wives purse, lol

Your right there 4WU. Lowering is not going to happen as you want the approach/departure and ramp over angles. The goal is to get it to drive as close to stock as possible. Which is why we address geometry and run very heavy duty sway bars and tune shocks accordingly. If your saying maxing out 14" shock stroke isn't much at all. I think your not in touch with what most people want out of their trucks. 1 thing that you have entirely over looked is 3 links don't give very good driver feed back when flexing. You have to physically stick your head out and see where your wheels are. Chassi flex and binding gives great drive feed back. Make of this what you will.

Haha didn't I tell ya?! Guess you already knew though :p

This place... Wooo but it's fun sometimes. Ive enjoyed this thread overall.

And in IH8muds defence. That pirate is full of dicks with heads so far up their ass, they believe their own s***. Talk about inaccurate BS.

I though you were in California, not Utah. :flipoff2:

I'll spare from the verbose reply prepared, but can't let some go unrebutted.

I love you, man, but that's bull s***.

There's all kinda of innovations that've resulted from the hard work of a lot of guys here, that a lot of folks benefit from, albeit not linked suspensions.

Someone earlier attempted to categorize 80 owners, but they missed one important genre.

There are some that love Cruisers and the 80, as it's arguably the most capable, toughest off road vehicle produced and introduced to NA. ( I'd say world, but the 70 contends)

I've been in s*** that linked or not, it wouldn't have mattered, because it'll hand your ass to you regardless (as it did the trailered, linked Yota's that were with)

Then, at the end of the day, got on the highway, set the cruise at 80mph, leaned back in the leather seats, let the AC cool, as I drove my fat ass station wagon 200 miles home.

That's the most important aspect, to me. Making it there, wheeling, then driving it home and there's absolutely nothing wrong with maintaining that model, as it trumps all other discussions.

All I feel any of these guys want is reassurance that it doesn't become a trailer queen, and a product to get them there, since not all are capable of the time necessary to acquire the skills to implement.

I'm in for the build thrill, was hell bent on 3 linking the front and rear long before buying an 80, and still intend to do so on an 80 chassis, when a product comes to fruition.

Don't think I'm a naysayer, since that wouldn't be true.

How about you ignore the people that will never be convinced and reply to the ones that are actually interested in buying your kit...like ME dammit!

I'm in for a +3" COd, 3 link front and rear with Radflo remotes with adjuster, for an 80 chassis that weighs 1,300lbs less than a stocker.

Guess that means no coils, but when the rest is ready, let me know.

If the 3 link rear isn't going to be a possibility, can probably source from LT.

Kit??? Interested

Post a link to the "kit"

Not gonna argue that...

Go play with your panhard heights and lower link/radius arm angles to the chassis. When you start grasping concepts, instead of spouting random 'flex' comments, youll be better equipped to join these discussions.
