Hi, all! So I am wanting to put rain guards on my LC. I have bought two sets of rain guards that both didn't fit. The first set required me to loosen my mirrors (uh, no) and the front Weathertech guards did not fit all the way into my window track. So now I am looking for guards that maybe mount on the exterior with 3M. I use to have ones like these on my old 80. Any recommendations would be appreciated! And if you got pics, even better! Thanks!

There are a couple threads but no clear concensus.
Hers one. Vent Shades?

Seems weather tech work fine for some
VentShade brand for others
Cheap ebay options
JDM oem for the bubble bling.

We've got the AVS VentShades. They do require loosening the mirror mount to slide the front lip under the edge of the mounting panel for it. However, I consider that a good thing, as it secures things well and was completely painless to install. At least I had no issues with it.

Do you have a link to order those? Thanks!

OEM JDM ones here, and I love them!

2nd vote for avs. I just installed a set last month. I also like they fit under the mirror- the little mirror gasket seems to seal around them nicely and is just an added measure to hold them I place.

I've never had the in-channel weather techs but my friend did and they moved around and seemed to interfere a little with the window motion. The old window motors don't need any additional strain.

Another vote for the AVS ones. The loosening of the mirror is no big deal. It hasn't rained yet where I am so I have no idea how much they will help with that but that isn't why I bought them. I bought them so I can open my windows more when parked on hot summer days.

Not sure what brand they were but a friend had a nice looking set that flavored out way too much to clear the mirrors. I think they were glue ons. We just cut the bottom 5" off, cleaned them up and rounded off the corners. Looks nice!

Had some on the truck when I bought it, they used double sided 3m foam like tape to secure them to the outside of the window frame. I believe the PO said they were for a 4Runner. Worked well until I smashed two when I was loading up a kayak, then removed them.

I have the Weathertech vents, I got them because the shop I worked for could get them cheap. I love the fit, required no modification at all, if anything they opened up the window channels and the windows work faster!! Its been a waiting game to see how long they last being smashed up against tree branches, they are all scratched to crap but they haven't broke yet.

Do these seem to be too much when driving? I have been debating between the outside mounting ones and in-channel ones until the past 2 days. I have received feedback that the in-channel ones seem to be the best option considering all factors. However, when I look at your pic, 1 - I love the transparency of them...they look really good with the truck, but 2- they seem really long. Does it bother you when driving? I ask because I was in a car today that had ventvisors and they seemed to be an "extra" thing blocking the view when looking out the window and I hadn't even thought about that factor. I originally wanted really wide/long visors but decided with shorter/smaller ones. These are the ones that I am probably going to be installing, which don't seem too wide or long, but just curious about your experience. I bought 2 pairs (in-channel and outside mounting ones) because I was still undecided but I am pretty sure that I'll be returning the outside mounting ones and keeping the in-channel ones after reading everyone's thoughts. BUT, after being in someone else's car today then seeing your pic, I just wondered.

I just bought cheap ones on eBay. They have been on the truck for a few years with no issues.

These...
