My service manual list it as an "R" item, the R in my book stands for replace.

So you are going to reseal the knuckles every 15K miles, have fun with that! My left one was recently done for the first time, ~200K miles. The arm nuts on that side have never been off, slipped the knuckle off without disturbing them.:hillbilly:
 
Well, you have a pink-pantied Lexus, the Lexus FSM is probably written with the intended use in mind.

Real wheelers change their knuckle grease out every oil change.

Hay I'm not here to fight with you, and i do agree that what the manual states does seem excessive, but I'm only stating what the Toyota factory service manual listed as their service intervals. Now, per the manual, if you operate under conditions of maintenance schedule "A", the service intervals become even shorter. They list replacement, or change at every 12 months, or 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84 and 96 thousand miles of operation. Conditions for schedule "A" are, towing a trailer, or car top camper, repeated short trips with outside temps under freezing. Extensive idling, low speed driving for long distances, operating on dusty, rough, muddy or salt spread roads. All in all if you followed these maintenance schedules, it looks like a great money maker for the dealership service department. On the plus side your truck would be in great shape, the same can't be said about your wallet.

Don't believe that the maintenance schedules aren't developed with the dealerships in mind. Parts and service are how the manufacturers repay the dealers for selling their products.
 
When I bought my LX the front birfs were bone dry & clicking something awful. I 3/4 filled them right then & it's been 60K miles since. All I've done is add some moly to them every ~15K miles & they've been just fine. Haven't clicked since I got it & they don't leak moly into the diff or diff fluid into the birf. I guess I've just been lucky! By reading all the horror stories on here I figured many, mnay miles ago I'd of had to overhaul them but I see no point when there's nothing wrong w/them.

I did the same thing to mine after the left front was clicking and what a relief. It does still click when I am 3x locked a little bit and turning left but it's all good ;)
