Ordered that Pioneer CA-9013 cable from AutoZone for my 62. Good fit. I trimmed the white hub instead of opening the hole in the bracket.

Installed the Pioneer CA-9013. It works, but in typical aftermarket fashion. Retaining tabs break off if you look at them wrong,
cable action a bit sticky. I'll keep it, but looking for a new OEM alternative. What's the consensus on compatibility of an early FJ80
accelerator cable, PN #78180-60220? It may be a few inches longer, not sure. Even so, better too long than too short....

Funny..ordered an accelerator cable from Aussie 4x4 as well...BUT was for RHD. If you go down under, note
to self make sure for the correct side!

I'm having the same issues mentioned in this thread...
My thoughts are:
1.) lube the existing cable and see if that helps
2.) check with Cruiser Corps to see if they have any used OEM parts in stock
3.) order the Pioneer CA-9013 from Autozone
Before I ordered that Pioneer part, I wanted to check and see if there were any better alternatives out there. I haven't been able to find any OEM options, and I'm a bit concerned about the quality of it based on what folks have said... Thanks in advance!

Just did this…

On this particular 62 the first notice to change it out was the throttle was sticking at high idle. After some inspection we found that the cable had a bend in it and some stainless wire poking thru the sheath at the throttle plate. After inspecting the stranded wire cable more closely we noticed that all but three strands were completely broken. The broken strands were cut away to expose what was left. Once removed we can see that there were a few kinks in the cable caused by additional broken wire. A new cable was ordered.

The replacement is 99% accurate. The only issue being the white plug (OEM is black) is physically wider than the bracket it goes into at the firewall. Some quick work with a side cutter bit in a dremel took care of that.

Gas pedal is supper smooth now.
