The body color paint is under those plastic trim pieces. Removal gives a nice utility look. As far as working with ABS, it's super easy. If you need to modify it to fit around the wiring harness or jack mount, just heat with a heat gun and form it to the shape. Once cooled it'll look OEM. If your not keeping the rear washer or jack, that space can be modified to accommodate storage, compressor or inverter. I've had my panels in for almost ten years and they're still rock solid. No discoloration, deformities or rattle.

Good luck!

I think you are the OG on this mod man. Your build was definitely my inspiration for ditching the pillar plastic.

Where are you all getting the ABS sheet? This is on my short list for the winter to do, however I may go the route of upholstering them in some marine vinyl.

I did a google search after talking with Adventure Tool Company (Paul, as he made his own and I might add did a fantastic Job!) and per our conversation I did find some local business that sell ABS by the sheet. Hope that helps and good luck!

I really like these options in ABS. @gregnash I went with the marine vinyl. I really like it but the plastic snaps were too short to catch when I installed. I used revnuts and stainless bolts/washers to finish it outl

The top vinyl sill cover that attaches to the main door panel and curves over the top of the door to the window is all one piece. Once you remove the panel you'll notice that it's vinyl covered sill piece is metal. You simply remove it from the main panel. You'll also notice the nice clean metal on the top of the door frame....but since the top sill piece has the window wiper attached to it, you do need to replace the wiper or your window will rattle.

Here's how I did it....(I learned this from my Triumph TR6 window sills) Anyway, you'll notice that the lip of the window sill (next to the window) is bent down and along the inside ledge is a series of punched holes. These holes are there to accept plastic window wiper clips. I simply went to the local pick-n-pull and found 70's,80's Toyotas (Tercels, Camerys, Celica's, Trucks, etc.) with manual windows, removed their door panels and carefully removed the plastic clips that hold on inside window wiper and if the inside window wiper was good I took them as well. I then cut them to the proper lenght and installed them into the front/rear sills with the clips.....I suspect this is how they're installed in the rest of the world, versus what we got in the US.

So just to clarify Paul, you actually removed the inner felt all together from the other model door panels and then install them here?! You happen to have any photos of the clips inside, I think I can picture what you are talking about but am more of a visual person.

Sorta.....you'll find that the inner felt wiper from different cars will be of different lengths, so you'll need to cut them to fit. I've use these inner/outer wipers on my 55 as well. Works really well and is considerably cheaper then purchasing new.

Sorry, I don't have a photo of the clips. I'm sure I have some laying around in my bins. I'll take a look.

ah, here's the plastic riviets for attaching the panels. I got them a Fastenal years ago, but I bet you can get them off amazon now.

Oh nice... they are the screw in type, not the push type.

Makes it easy and fast to remove the panels. Also, buy extras, since the tailgate panel will get a lot of use/abuse you'll inevitably break one, two, several......from what I've heard.......good luck!

No tailgate panel for me. No real need for it seeing as the dogs are constantly in and out. That will get Monstalinered in the near future.

You might want to see it Tap Plastics ships. I got lucky - there are several locations up in the Seattle area.

Really Like the trim lines, I didn't know that they even did that! I am going to send them my back cargo panels so they can cut them to match as the ones I received where slightly different as they did not go all the way forward towards the front end. See my post for pics of the ones installed.

I tell these guys are super nice to work with and put out a quality product. I would also agree with @GLTHFJ60 the clips that hold the door panels in place are super nice and easy to install or take out. Glad you liked them as well!!

maybe i'm slow...but I seem to be missing something here.
Our Door Cards

all their content suggests the material is masonite - so where is everyone getting these black plastic ones?
