Are the 55's head rests different than a 40's? If so, how? Does anyone have pictures. I'm still on the never ending search for pig parts. And another thing, Why did all the previous owners of our pigs and the PO's of the 40's remove the head rests? Any ideas?

These are not stock but early seats in a 55 75 and below used a headrest with a wider post. I have searched and searched. I ended up finding these at Urban Landcruisers. But I do not think they are stock. Good luck I have never seen a good pic of the stock ones.

76 and up headrest are same as the 40's of that year.

I measured the post on my 79 40 (6 3/8 inches) and on a 77 55 (5 1/4 inches).

So while they look very similar the distance between the post is not the same.

The seats in both vehicles are stock.

Ok, I have way too much time on my hands today:

Correct if you get 76-78 headrest they should be the same on 40's and 55's. I don't know about 79 55's

The seats on a 79 40 changed that year as did the body. I have put a set of 40 head rests on my seats form a late 70's 40. Seems like I had to spread the posts for them to fit my 78 stock seat just a touch. they fit, just don't know what the stock head rest look like. I don't think I have ever seen one. can anyone post a picture? So Troll you say they are the same? If so that is great.

Piggy headrests from the back. These are in the '76 but I don't know if they are period correct or not. When you find a piggy seat in perfect condition you don't question if it's the exact right one for your truck, and this seat is as perfect as I've seen in a 30+ year old vehicle!

My 1969 has headrests but I don't know if the seats are original, sure look like it.

I may be selling a set of headrests soon if anybody's interested.

Pablo, as I recall mine slide straight out...................let me check......yep, they slide straight out on the 79 but I had to wrassle with them....yours are probably rusted as are the ones on the 79..........nothing is easy on a pig is it:bang:

Marshall, I can't feel anything on the 79s but it has been reupholstered!

Can anyone tell me how to get the headrests out of the Piggy bench seat?

I have tried pulling straight up, but the ones in my '74 seem intent on staying put...

Okay I found a pic that should help.

Left side. On top you should be able to see the two holes for the headrest. Directly below the headrest holes on the right post right below that you see what looks to be a long button. Thats it. The right side headrest shows that area missing the button. BUt thats because it's on the right side. You can see it if you look cloesly where they put a circular area on the back of the vinyl to tell you where to press.

Still to this day it boggles my mind as to why so many of the headrest were thown away.

Anyway I went through the EPC and narrowed down correct headrest and what will crossrefence from other vehicles.

10/69- 01/75 had only one style. 71950-39026-03 I belive they are narrow post but it would be nice to have a pic.

01/75- 09/75 71950-90351 These are the guys that got screwed like me. 10.5 inch wide post with hippy graphics on them. During this 9 month time you could have also gotten 71950-39026-03 Which is the early headrest. SO crap good luck with that. Toyota just put on whatever they had in at that time.

Now is where it gets interesting.

09/75 -01/79 work on any 55, 40, 43, and BJ40 0r 42 of these years. 71950-90352 Lucky guys and gals

01/79-07/80 71959-90353 is the last of the years for 55's I'm betting they were grey.

So It would be cool to see some early headrest. Especially a 69.and a early 75 and compare.
