Custom built engine stand and everything together. Should be going in the frame for test fitment next week. Hopefully my guestimations are all correct and moving the entire thing forward 4" will allow me to keep the stock drivelines and not have to cut any new holes in the tunnel.

Cute kiddo. Keep up the good work. There will be an end to the ridiculous PO mods. Thankfully, it looks like you'll be replacing every part before you're done anyway. Merc diesel + h55f + longer wheelbase = awesome foundation for an expo rig.

Wish I could build something like the CampTEQ set up for the 40 series. Would work great for your rig too.

CampTEQ expo top and some other ideas for inspiration.

My son loves my cruiser so much that I have to take him to the garage regularly just so he can play in it. He calls it 'Daddy Car'. He would rather ride in that than my wife's diesel liberty or my dodge ram.

I think there are a few more pictures coming soon. The Alcan springs came in and he said they look really nice and just right. They should be put on in a few days. They had to weld a new tube on the back as the other rear springs mounts were worn out and wallowed just like those in the front. This will provide a perfect circle and keep me from going thru bushings.

Had to go out and get a parts car (Mercedes) for some parts we were missing today. It was a tad bit more expensive than just buying the used parts and it was easier and I'm sure we will need some additional parts. Not to mention I will have a spare engine if I ever need it.

I think the Metal Tech Roll cage arrived as well.

The engine has been mocked up once and mounts will get made up in the next couple of weeks. After that the body will be going on for a test fit.

Still a long ways to go but making very good progress.

A couple of photos. Getting the engine mocked up. Will probably make some adjustments to the motor mounts as I think those are just for mocking it all up. Plenty of room in there for an intercooler and twin turbo set up :). Might have to build up that second engine for some fun in the future.

But for now just happy to see some progress. Should be up on its wheels and level here in the next month with the drivetrain in and secured. Here is to hoping the drivelines work out and we don't have to cut the transmission tunnel at all.

I'm with tucker-Toyota senders to factory gauges. Much cleaner install and easier to fix if you have issues. I had all factory senders on my Vortec in my troopy and never found them lacking. You can always back it up with mechanical gauges like in this month's Trails if you feel the need.

I just drilled and tapped the ports for the factory senders also. Works great and makes for a clean install.

Looks like things are coming along nicely even if it may seem like its taking forever.

Well here is some progress. Motor mounts going in today. Still figuring out the transfer case mount. Trying to incorporate a skid plate into it. Need to get the pillow block so we can mount up the steering. I want to use the stock air conditioning pump and bracket if I can. It is in the way of the steering though.

Man, I need your Dad to do some welding for me. That's just pure sexy.

No real pictures. Making some slow progress. Tearing the donor engine that was rebuilt apart and making sure it was done right. Considering it was missing two head bolts we wanted to make sure.

Pulled the engine out of the donor vehicle as well as some parts we needed.

Test fit the stock AC compressor. It will not fit so I will just use an aftermarket compressor and have to make a bracket on the otherside.

Considering ordering up an intercooler. Found a nice one that should help and has in/out tubes on the same side to make piping easy.

I think it should be up on its own suspension here in the next month and the final mounts in. They ordered a rear transmission mount but I don't think it will work (was for earlier T-cases I believe) but we will see what they have come up with. Hope to see all the fitment done soon so they can tear it all apart and coat the frame and axles. After that it is more fitment with the body and I think it will really start to pick up steam.

Don't really have any of the pictures now. None of them really that exciting anyway.

Is this to big? I can't find anything to really compare it to. All of those for the OM617 I have seen is for water to air and are much smaller. Then all of the flow charts are for gas engines. Worried about turbo lag. Especially with 33" tires and 3.73 gears.

I've got plenty of room for it and have been unable to find one that has the same side inlet/outlet. Which will be needed to keep piping length and complexity down. Just making sure it is in for when I crank up the fuel.

I've seen similar size used on the 4.0L toyota engines and they seem to work real well. Of course my 3.0 is a bit smaller but I also drive around at much higher RPM's in general.

There is not a lot to show here. Looks like I better order the intercooler ASAP though so they can find a place for it.

Tires are mocked up and fitting a few pieces around the engine compartment to see how much room we have for oil coolers, power steering coolers, AC mounts, condensers, battery trays, intercooler piping, air filters, and battery trays.

Bumper will get made up before the final paint job.

Sooo still a lot of fitting to do but we should see a full frame shot of it all painted and all of the parts going on one last time! Maybe get a sexy side shot of the new wheels and tires. I'm not sure if I'm a big fan of my winch. Way to big but hey, go big or go home :) or if someone wants to trade a 8724 that needs some work for this new badlands 12K. Dad says it looks gaudy on there and I think he is right. Heavy too.

Well she the PS and bracing from 4x4 labs is all complete. The MAF brackets are now welded on (moved 2" forward from stock location) and the rear brackets are going to be bolted into the frame and after driving around to make sure we like them will take weld them on as well.

Just one crappy phone picture. Should have the mock up with axles done in the next week. I still need to order some ALCANs for the rear springs.

Hopefully moving it forward that 2" gives me a slightly better approach angle and alleviates the problem with the slip yoke in the driveshaft. Who knows maybe it will be to short now. I guess we will see. The 5 speed is stuck in NY because of the storm. As soon as it arrives it will be time do so some measuring and getting all of the new transmission and motor mounts fabbed up. I'm guessing the body will have to come on and off a few times before we get it just right.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NOOOO!!! Why anyone would use that piece of s*** manafre garbage is beyond me. Did no one try and stop him??!! Dude that MAF kit completely fxxxs up your approach angle. Your better off leaving it shackle forward. And if your honestly going to throw power steering and a S/R on it, why not spring it over?! The whole "stock" thing went out the window long ago. And why would you waste your money on a 6 stud setup when your just running open stock axles and small tires(not to mention leaf under)?? Sick cruiser man but I feel your doing your chassis all wrong...
