I was fortunate to have the original Top to use as a Template. Used it to copy stitching type, fittings placement, sizings and all fittings types. I managed to source a high resolution copy of the Makers Mark and had this etched on to the Vinyl ( Strataglass) Windows. Canvas is Haartz Stayfast. ( Tan / Tan)
I have considered taking a crack at making soft tops. My mom was a seamstress and has the industrial machines to sew canvas. I reached out to Trollhole a few times a year or so ago to see if he still has the patterns, no response. If I remember correctly, he sold the patterns to Julie from Dirt Road Tops. The ones I have seen that she has made just look a lot nicer than the ones on Ebay, SOR or from overseas. I will reach out to him again and ask. I assumed he doesn't have them however, since I did not get a response. Wasn't someone else making these between Trollhole and Julie?
I have worm drive Singer that will do like 9 layers of denim. I also bought the hand crank china shoe patcher off Amoron for like $100. It sorta works but I need to take it all apart and stone the working surfaces to slick it up.
Patterns can be a challenge to make. Thrift store sheets/blankets./drapes can be cheap to cut up vs good canvas. Hot glue gun and binder clips, plus safety pins are very handy in fitting patterns to frame. Double stick or back rolled duct tape often is a substitute for a helper.
