FJ40 shackle angle/ Do I need new springs? (20 Viewers)

looks like I nailed it. :)

Take same good measurements and see if your shackle mounts are actually square with your other mounts.

I bet mounts aren’t welded in evenly with each other. Those are not rivets, they are button head bolts (a common use for a replacement when changing frame components).

the welds are not original, or properly done either.

If you do need to move them, I make and sell new replacements that use the later/larger/better +80 bushing. There are period correct replacements that use the smaller bushing available from other vendors though.
Everything seems to be square, and measurements are the same front to back, left to right, up and down. Nothing seems bent or twisted. I have a 5/8" leveling block on the right in place of the 3/8" one from CCOT and its about 3/8" lower still on the left rear. I don't mind a little lean but the shackle hitting the spring needs to be fixed!
Wondering if I should remove the LR shackle spring/shackle mount and move it aft to match the RR angle?? Would prefer to find the actual cause of this first but I'm out of ideas. You can tell from this pic that setting flat the LR shackle is more angled. Stance doesn't look bad over all but the shackle hitting the hanger is wearing on my mind!!
Thank for the advice and input

What is causing this? I have a new HFS lift from cool cruisers and with the leveling block it still leaned a bit, so I made one 5/8' thick for the RR passenger side and it is better but still off about 1/2 inch. What I've noticed is that the LR shackle angle is a good bit more than the RR shackle angle and bottoms out on the spring and starting to dent it. The shackles I have are the "H" type from CCOT. I measured the springs CC and they are the same as well as the spring mounts left and right and they are the same. swapped the springs around and it's the same result....Left rear doesn't change! Should the Left rear be re-arched a bit?

In this pic, it looks like the main leaf has a slightly reversed arch just ahead of the shackle. Unfortunately it is not the first time I’ve seen this with a CCOT spring/shackle combo. The oversized military wrap gets caught on the oversized shackle gusset and the result bends the leaf. This has been a reoccurring problem that I first became aware of over 25 years ago.
The last time I saw this was five years ago, on project Remote Control, and the vehicle had not been driven yet. I cut off part of the military wrap and swapped out the barbell shackles for some less-invasive Mark’s Off Road Double Duty shackles.😉

I see that now! I will take a better look this evening. Still not sure about that angle/ compression of the LR shackle or if its effected by what you've stated. FYI, I bought this lift about 24 years ago! Just recently completed this project.....not sure if they're ever actually completed!?
Thanks for your Insite and eagle eyes.

Did you buy it direct from CCOT?

Oh wow, I missed that. The 69’ I am currently remodeling would invert on big articulation (unknown brand 4” lift, classic too short spring/vertical shackle) and eventually bent the spring. That is frustrating!

Good eye Mark. I was gonna say, SEE THAT TIRE, I said more than once, it's load, would ya look at that, take the tire off , drive it around, park in same spot and see. Load combined with that slight bend is all there is to it.

It's like that without the tire as well. I noticed the lean before I had the spare. I am going to take it off again and measure the difference. 33x10.50x15 BFG mud KM3
