Cage

Here's another pic of my cage, still need to add overhead bars and gusset the rear slanted bars. I definately am no welder. But I plan on cleaning up some welds when I add other bars.

I added inner fenders which help guard against water mud etc. You can see them in the pics with the dogs and the one all muddy.

I had to go back and add my leafs that I took out. Leaf springs had started to sag badly. Changed my rear pinion angle a bunch. I may have to add some correcting shims or cut off the perches again. I'm waiting on the springs to settle before I do anything.

I have started on my ladder bar, but want to wait on the springs to settle and then correct the pinion angle.

I had to go back and redo where my cylinder attached to my tie rod. The cylinder was rubbing on the tie rod when you cut the wheels real hard.

Oh and here is a picture of our profession tube bending crew. But I only scrapped a little metal. No wrong bends.

Beer for friends

No help with the bending. I had to do it all myself. I just had somebody watch the degree wheel and tell me when to stop straining.

I'm the one with the Sierra Nevada in my hand. The best thing about Sierra Nevada's is most of my buddies don't like em.

Four Link Questions

I'm itching for the 4 link. Not right now, but definately in the future. Maybe this winter. I might start buying up parts now. If my wife came home and caught my rear axle out from under the cruiser, she would kill me. I'll have to wait awhile.

One of my buddies just bought a full size chevy truck with Rockwells and 44" boggers. Let me tell you, 12" lift springs don't flex at all. The springs look more like u bolts. We might try experimenting with coils on his.

Most of the heeps around here run the 2" thick wall (.500 or somewhere there close) and run 7/8" heims.

I'm having trouble finding heims that big. What is everyone else using?

I'm going to give the guys at Proffitts a call about those 1/4 elliptical springs they use on the rear of their cruisers. The ones with the bushing at the front of the spring.

I will go ahead and tube chassis the rear of this thing when I do this. I welded in a bunch of metal (weight) for the rear buggy springs.

Here's a few more pics like it sits right now.

the traction bar will help with the rear springs settling..

Mace, What do you mean help.

Mace do you mean help them settle or keep them from settling?

J.R.

Keep them from settling. Limiting neg arch will help the springs live longer too.

Redneck Thursday Afternoon

I know you will find this hard to believe, but there was alcohol involved in this. This was Thursday 4/6/06.

44" boggers on the truck make my 39.5" look small.

Stuck

I thought I got stuck, but the transfer case had jumped out of 4wd.

There was so much mud on the windows, I couldn't see the front tire were just sitting there.

I was relieved to find out it was in 2wd.

Have you considered a 1 link with panhard? A few of the guys in my town are running one and it works really well. I'm flopping back and forth between double triangulated and the 1 link.

Grader ball...

:shudder:

Thanks

Thanks for the positive feedback. I've still got some work to do, but everything is working pretty good. As far as the one link, I'm not sure about that. I've never seen anything like it. I will probably just go 1/4 elliptic when I do something.

I tend to get ahead of myself. I need to get this thing finished before I start any other projects. I need to get my winch and finish my roll cage and weld up my ladder bar.

I have found the winch setup I will be getting. Clutch Operated hydraulic pump running a hydraulic milemarker 12000 lb. winch.

That is one badass Modder fockin' rig !

Here's a few of me snatching a Chevy 2500

I tried to get this truck out Sunday 4/23/06, but not luck. BTW 2005 2500 with Duramax.

We had to go and get a 72 horse tractor and still couldn't get it.

We both snatched hard at the same time, but still couldn't get it out.

That truck is heavy. Had to call a wrecker.

If we would have got it out, I was going to run through where he was stuck. There may have been mud in the tree tops, but it would have made it.

I NEED A WINCH!!!!!!!!!!
