I wouldn't use an epoxy, I would just put a polishing disc on it and smooth it out a little.

ok so i started cleaning up the front axle, is this pitting too much for a rig thats gonna see mud frequently and is predominantly used off road? im worried that the seals aren't gonna do their jobs. new front axle time?
Nice work mate, you been ripping in to that 60. Were the rear brakes toast? I put new shoes and wheelbearings in that 6 months before you got it
Good luck with the project

Yeah dry, all good. My 40 series (yes I bought one too) is out in the rain. My 80 winch truck is out at Gracemere and I can't get to it.
But life could be worse!
I did the rear up because it was all shot, but never got round to the front
I know you want to do this cheap as possible, but I seriously would be doing a rear disc conversion.
There are 2 ways -
1 is to use hilux front rotors and Subaru brumby front calipers with built in handbrake, mounted on custom brackets
2 is to use early 80 series backing plates, rotors and calipers, with a little rework and custom brakets. This is how I am going to do the ones on Perkos 60 ( with my old cab)

Lol, looks like we are on the same track then, I paid $150 for mine. Gonna try to stick it on a shortened 80 series chassis and 37s or 38s a-la mr Ipor's fine example.well i wouldn't call mine a 40 but meh.......
finally!
