Hood getting a refresh. Seam sealer where needed to repair separated hood ribs. Tattered insulator will get replaced and new clips as well.

Derale power steering cooler upgrade. I painted the cooler, used Gates power steering hose for LP side and the Rein HP hose. Once I get the head back on I will finish running the LP lines. Hoses will have braided and spiral abrasion sleeving added to them. *Note: Derale cooler comes with 3/8" NPT inlets NOT 1/4" NPT as advertised online.

Clean under carriage

I've used that cooler in other applications, and I found it to frequently trap air.

I'm not saying it's not good.. it definitely is, but it may be beneficial to plan some sort of bleeding near the cooler in your plumbing.

Let it dangle fitting side up while you add fluid and burp the system.
This is a good idea. Didn’t do that on mine years ago. I think connecting the hose from the steering box to the lower port of the cooler does the bleeding process.

ABS Gonzo.

You aren’t messing around with this round of work! Unfortunately simply removing the Abs pump and the LSPV didn’t render the improvements I was hoping for ,hence the hydro booster install with larger MC.

😂 🤪

Now that it was fished out, I finished removing the LSPV assembly and the whole brake line. I also used the single line anchor from the L/F frame rail, attached to the LSPV line, to secure this new union. Man, removing the 2 bolts facing the fuel tank that hold the LSPV bracket was a pain.

There's a whole lot of BaT-type restoration happening in here. I hope you're not planning on selling it soon!

Hellz no.

What's BaT-type?

Haha Bring A Trailer - auction site where all these crazy priced 80s are being sold.

Nice work on all the upgrades. I just did the steering shaft seal a few days ago. And definitely wish I did my motor mounts when I was doing the HG. They've since gone bad which I believe is causing my fan to hit the shroud :/

On installing the Derale cooler I drilled and tapped the frame. I started thinking about future bleeding of the system and I would want to remove the bolts every time. This would give the cooler a good angle of the dangle for bleeding. I came to the conclusion the thread engagement might not be reliable enough for this. Maybe I am wrong, who knows... So I installed rivet nuts instead.

Nice Paul!...I need to get this done, I've had the main shaft seal laying around for way to long..
Dude, it took 25 min including looking for where I put the part and gathering the tools.

LOL, that reminds me of my brand new 1999 Phillips I just found again in the fender...
Was your 80 undercoated sprayed at the dealer? I had the same goopy oil/ tar coating everywhere but where it mattered. Now gone. I suppose it kind of helped.
