Ya and after I spent all the time doing it I realized I need some sort of steam vent plumbing to the radiator. It was sort of an exercise in can I. I’m sure it will seal but not sure if it’s enough cooling. More than likely will buy a new one.
There is a insert that you would connect between 2 rubber hoses that has a steam port. LEt me find it for you

This is actually the radiator I bought from Speedway. Price is hard to beat. That black deal in photo would go inline on your top hose.

Mine is in a 40, so take this with a grain of salt. I’m successfully cooling my stock 5.3 ls with a stock (fj40) radiator. In addition I’m using a Ford Taurus electric fan. I used what I had and figured I would swap it out if it didn’t work. Three years later, I’m happy with a newish stock radiator.
For the steam vent, there are a multitude of inserts with ports online. I had to piece two radiator hoses together anyway, so it was an easy choice for me.

So I've made some progress. I have a lot of the small stuff done. Fuel, microsquirt wired and tested, headers(I went with a s10 block hugger from speed engineering).
What's great is their header clears the manual steering box. That at least for now gets me routed and on the right track. My original plan was to go with a Saturn electric steering unit. The stock brakes worked amazing so im going to hold off on power steering and hydroboost. Next is wire the IAC and O2 sensor. Do some wire tidying and finishe my fuel return. I really wish id mounted the engine about an inch forward but i think I'm going to roll with it.
Anyone have exhaust routing photos handy with an ls swap?

Sorry, was supposed to post this here -

We’ve had a couple discussions about LS FJ55 exhaust routing. I think so far everyone here has run a passenger side block-hugger and then routed the pipe forward around the sump of the oil pan and then to a “Y” pipe and join the two together somewhere under the tub before hitting the muffler.
There’s also been talk of running the pipes under the frame rails on each side then to the back between the frame and rockers, going back inside of the frame at the rear arcs, then back out again. I’ve yet to see it done but think it’s plausible.

Man, someone needs to do some old-skool "lake pipes" - right under the rockers!
