Awesome

What is the part number on the U shaped pipe with the orange label on the left of the first picture?
Walker or Magnaflow?

Very nice! I'm not throwing any codes, but the flanges are fairly well corroded around the cats and leaking exhaust. I'm thinking of having it all just welded together.

Nicely done. I wish I would have the welding skills to tackle it myself.

It was magnaflow.....but I did not use that one at all. they sent 2 1/4 instead of 2 1/2 on that piece. Didnt need it.

Thanks. If you need someone to weld all the leaks up I could prob. tackle that for you. I did that to the oem one that was on there and it took care of all the noisy leaks.

Thanks. Just grab a bunch of scraps somewhere and practice. I bought my welder about 7 yrs ago and self tought. Practice with all types and thickness metals is the time consuming part of learning. Also a 220v welder helps.

Very nicely done my brotha. Working under the vehicle is hard enough but welding on exhaust is truly PITA work. Kudos.

One concern I have regarding the header wrap on the pipe is that it may trap in moisture, thereby hastening the corrosion process.

I may take you up on that generous offer, but I think a few #6 are in order first.

It might. My thought on header wrap is that if moisture is to get on it then it would turn to steam from the high temps. Most old header wrap is briddle due to all moisture taken out of the materials causing it to break down. IDK.

You could always use the heat shield from an earlier LC with factory over the frame exhaust. Both early and late models use the same Cat heat shield.

That is good to know. What yr. cruiser? I would def be interested in that factory piece. I ended up wrapping it and it does keep the heat down. Before the wrap the floor was very warm. Now not at all. The silicone heater lines are getting very hot. I might wrap those with the header wrap also.

IIRC 93-94

Hey, I did some looking and couldn't find the bent cat. Can you give me the link, website or part number? I'm gathering parts to do this, but I'm doing 1"bl to get more room to go over the frame.

I bought it from Summit Racing. Magnaflow 3 way, spun cat
Part # MPE-59976

thanks, can't wait to do this. i had a po420 code come on briefly when i was in zions, but i turned it off and it hasn't come back on. i have bad rings so i added motor honey for the drive, planning a rebuild in fall, and must of had some bad gas, cause i filled up with chevron premium and added some octane booster and the code has not come back on.

When I kept resetting my check engine light it would only come back on when going up a steep hill under load

Driving from southern Utah up north with a loaded cruiser with camping gear, I pulled lots of hills, made better then normal power actually. Maybe the motor honey? I have a turbo I will also be adding to the equation, so new exhaust won't hurt.

bump bump
How's your exhaust system doing these days. Is the CEL still pretty rare? Any issues with the heat wrap around the over the frame pipe, rust, corrosion, etc? I am really edging to get that same spun cat and run the pipe over the frame.
