Finally - Reassembly - my slow build of "no name" (1 Viewer)

Added a small detail today. I've always been bugged how when the battery is removed, the bottom of the battery tray looks bad from the weight and vibration of the battery ruining the paint, eventually rusting pretty good. And I didn't want my new powder coating ruined. So I added some rubber feet so the battery will sit off the bottom of the tray. The top right one is intentionally off line so the bolt doesn't hit the fender below . McMaster Carr stuff. Low profile Allen head bolts, rubber feet with washers inside the bushing, and added covers so the holes can't get crude down inside the foot. The tray is a Man a Fre tray for the drivers side. OEM passenger side tray will get the same thing.

So I don't even know how awesome the 5 speed is gonna be yet.

I was in the same boat on my H55F, and after DD'ing it for a few weeks now, I can say you are going to love it.

made some progress the last couple days. got "several" OEM items from Beno over the last couple years. all plastic retainers on the entire 60 are going in new. new emblems. new rubber grommets. new weather stripping on windows, etc. this rear quarter "Land Cruiser" emblem is going to be one of the few areas of chrome on the whole truck. Made me smile snapping that in place! The "Toyota" emblem over the license plate light assembly will also be chrome. That assembly got powder coated, but the word Toyota is plastic and I can't change it much other than painting the entire plastic wording. more on that piece later.

also got my sound deadening in on the entire interior. from the windows down, inside fenders, doors, and floor, I covered everything with Quiet Crap. GREAT product. highly recommended. it took 2 full 50' rolls to cover every square inch. It was recommended to NOT put it on the roof because of the weight. I was worried it might drop down on the headliner with heat buildup. So, the roof got 1/4" closed cell foam, with the aluminum side facing up. It doesn't look too pretty, because I re-used it from when I did the interior a few years ago, and had 2 layers on the floor. The roof will also get jute wool, not OEM, but close.

one thing I had the painter do was to add "chip guard" paint on the rockers and behind the wheel wells.

Here is a rear bumper sneak peak. Added a new passenger side swing arm. DIY ladder from #reevesci and fabled up the rest. New swing arm is supposed to come back from the powder coater today.

Got a question. Inside the rear vents on the back pillars, there are 2 staples on these vent tubes. Can anybody give me details as to exactly what was here attached to these staples? And was it on the side facing the inside or outside? I'm thinking some kind of flap but I would like to see it if possible

And is there anything between the two pieces shown. I remember a brittle cracked flap piece somewhere along the way in disassembly.

The foam gasket was ok but I wanted it new, but unavailable. So made my own out of some foam tape strips.

BTW, the outer vent has a gasket around it that is highly brittle. I would recommend not trying to remove it to clean under it. Almost guaranteed to break and they are NLA from Toyota.

Is this correct or am I missing anything here. do the front door switches go metal washer to paint?

On my 62, there's a thin plastic (nylon?) washer between the metal washer and the paint.

Btw I'm blown away by the job you're doing. You've now got me all twisted up in my head on how rough my ride looks!

thanks. I'm just trying to do things right so over the next 30+ years, I'm not going to have to address certain things. plus its a good feeling knowing that certain parts are new and the little things nobody will ever see was done right.

Got battery trays and batteries installed. HJ air filter housing and carb cap mounted. Still need to run the hose from the valve cover to the carb. Had to just search the wall at the auto parts store to find would would work. Also hooked up the headlight relay wiring kit from ARB to have brighter headlights, along with new headlights.

It's really bugging me how dirty the engine is compared to the new paint. They had the hood off in the body shop for 6 months. May have to give this thing a bath so the pics shine alittle better. But, after the hood and OEM Hood insulator is installed, then the dirt and dust will be covered by shiny paint).

Got the Wagongear design dual antenna mount all set up. (Thanks to Reevesci for this one.) On the antenna mount, I added an additional nut and fender washer on the inside just under the top where it goes through the fender. I didn't like how the fender sheet metal started to flex with the mount tightened.

Here is the engine when it went in after rebuild. This was several years ago, but still part of the build. Still wish it looked this shiny. I can say this. No matter what, if you have your engine out, get the engine bay professionally painted. I didn't and regret it. Rattle can just hasn't held up well.

Awesome work! I am in the process of doing the same thing with the body of my FJ62, mechanical is next. Got any pics of the roof sound insulation before the headliner? I am using fatmat on the roof myself on the major panels to reduce vibration - I read a bunch of posts on other sites where people did not have issues on the roof with it coming off (seems pretty solid to me), but curious of your set up.

So wait... you are using an HJ air cleaner with a long tube and cap for the carb? Any detailed pics and info on this?
