PS is nice.. I drove Hamp around last night (YES, illegally)with no PS on 16" wide tires. :D NEED TO START PERFORMING more 16 oz CURLS!!!

LOL... sounds like a plan to me J.. So beer and BBQ at your place this weekend. By the time you are done you will look like Popeye!:beer:

Well crap.. after messing with the smog pump for the last hour and finally getting it reassembled there is a wobble in the interior part that does allow it to spin AT ALL. She is completely seized. I was able to spin it almost 180* beforehand but it always caught on something. That something was a busted fin that has completely sheared off from both internal bearings and got caught.

:censor: looks like I am buying a JimC pulley.

Well parts fairy showed up just now with some deliveries for me!! Just waiting on the JimC pulley which should be here Saturday!!

So got the new Alt, PSP and belts routed. While I was in there I went ahead and trimmed my slightly kinked WP to T-Stat hose and top rad hose. The top rad hose is going to have to be replaced soon though as I did not realize it was about a 1/2" to large ID and was seriously tightened down. Of course, being the dumbass that I am I did not realize how much coolant would come out when I took the hoses off and so I probably lost a good GALLON of coolant all over the driveway.:whoops: :bang::bang::bang:

Ended up HAVING to trim both those lines because of the fact they were both contacting the PSP and Alt. It is amazing what the right belt and pulley can do. For instance, the original Alt had a double line pulley on it that was not correct, the PO was running this to the WP then the Crank to take out the PSP (it has a slight wobble in the pulley). So the belts didn't fit properly and the alt was ALL THE WAY at the end of the adjustment bracket. Now with the right pulley/alt, belt and the PSP added back into the mix it is about 2" from the WP to T-stat hose and has probably a good 1/2" of deflection at tension (I will have to adjust this I know).

The top rad hose had a slight kink in it from being a bit to long (on top of being to large) so when I installed the new PSP it was contacting the edge of the reservoir. Didn't figure that was a huge deal but since I had to fix the other hose I might as well fix this one I figured. Well now I am going to go get a new hose all together (along with another 2 Gallons of coolant to replace the stuff that is on my driveway)! Figure I will replace that line with the proper one and call it good.

New SP pulley should be here soon!! :bounce::bounce:bounce2:

So got everything buttoned up yesterday evening and man does she run different. Volt meter inside NEVER drops below the ~13v mark, replaced the coolant and she barely moves and just runs smoother and idles better. Seriously amazing what this all did!!!

Ran her up to Reno for softball practice and she didn't get above the 1/4 tick for temp and volts didn't move no matter what.

Here is a dumb question though how can you tell the belts are tight enough without a tension meter? If I push on the belt it has a small amount of movement, maybe 1/2" but that is it. Thought I had read that 1/2" of deflection is preferable. Anyways seriously happy with the purchases.

Maybe a turn or two more and you'll be good I bet.

Nope walked out about 20 minutes later to a pool of coolant. Bypass hose between the water pump and t-stat had a small slice in it and was spraying all over that would be the slipping I was hearing.

Looks like tomorrow is going to be hose replacement day!!!

Ok does anyone know what that damn hose is called? I can find it on SOR but they just call it a bypass hose, I need to get something tomorrow and can't find anything on NAPA, O'Reilly or Autozone..

NVM, just typed in BYPASS on NAPA and found this which looks exactly like what I need. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx?R=NBH7933_0117505539 Gonna go grab it tomorrow morning first thing. Oh plus more coolant (DAMNIT).

Yup that was the right hose, of course I didnt get new hose clamps when I was there so had to make a quick run to Lowe's and grab a few (plus some extras of other sizes just in case).

New hose went on like a charm and replaced yet another gallon of coolant in my system, that makes three this week

But she is running great now and all the new items seem in good order.

Couple things I have noticed though, at higher rpms that engine seems to make a bit more "noise". Hard to explain but for some reason I have a feeling it is just due to having more accessories going now (PSP, Smog Pulley, etc).

The other thing is that I noticed I have excessive valve lash. Wondering if I need to retard the timing? It is not under load or anything like that I can just hear the load 'clak-clak-clak-clak-clak' of the valves when the truck is running, even after warming up.

I will see if I can get a small video to put up tomorrow with the sound. A bit disturbing to me as this just started, this loudly, after adding the PSP, new Alt, and Smog pulley.

Well the sound ended up being the bushing in the power steering pump going out. I had tightened the PSP belt to tight and the sounds I was hearing was the bushing taking a dump on me. But that was two weeks ago almost and I have been trying like mad to get the leak to stop with Lucas Stop Leak but to no avail.

Earlier this week I happened to check the local Pick-N-Pull to see if they had a Land Cruiser and low and behold they had just gotten one at the beginning of the month! So I headed out there today to see what was available of it. When I got there it was pretty well picked over, the interior was completely gone, rad gone, passenger fender and door gone, rear bottom gate gone, front axle with EVERYTHING gone....Really though I was looking for the PSP and it was there, about an hour later it was out and I was on my way home with a new to me PSP (this one I won't over tighten!!!)

Earlier in the week I had bit the bullet and bought some Rockford Fosgate 6x9s for the rear cargo panels as my dogs has put another hole through one. Found out that my CITI Thank You card had enough points on it that I got my Fosgate R1694's for free!!! So got those on Thursday with some speaker wire and spent most of today completing the rear panels.

Sorry no build picks but I did use 1/4" SurePly that was on sale (got a 4x4x1/4 sheet).
Here is the final build and installation. They sound great! Next will probably be a small powered sub like a 10" Bazooka tube but that will probably wait until next year.

Sorry for the last one but I did not get home from PnP until afternoon, then grabbed some 3/8" Return hose line as a "Just-In-Case) replacement for the PSP. Figured I needed to wait for the PSP and engine to cool down so I started on the panels. After almost 5hrs I finally got them done then went to have a :beer: with some friends then came back and finished routing the wire and installing the panels. I still have to screw them in but for now they are in there just fine!!

Those panels look good! I am needing to do something similiar with mine, they are flopping around and kinda torn up. What did you use? 1/4" particle board? (Sorry if you previously posted)

When I bought my 60 the pump was shot and leaking bad. The PO just kept dumping more fluid in which of course bled all over the smog pump. He had already replaced one smog pump but apparently didn't realize the new one would die soon (it did) too if he kept dousing it with ps fluid.

Good score on that ps pump. I did the Saginaw conversion as I feared buying a rebuilt toyota unit would leak again and they are so expensive. So far it's working nicely.
