Thanks Guys, they were pretty easy to build just time consumptive in that I would go back and check to make sure that they fit properly, took the old ones out and got the material off them and carefully traced the holes so that I would know where to drill for the speed nuts.

Cruiser Enthuiser - the material I got was called SUREPLY and I got it from Lowe's. Was about $10 for the 4x4x1/4" sheet and I still have enough left that I can do a third one if I need to. I know the Reevesci used 1/4" MDF for his and really either will work, this was the only one that they had in that large of a sheet (otherwise all they had was small 2x2 sheets or the huge sheets). Stuff worked really well and really it is almost like laminate wall board, still pretty ridged even at 1/4". Then I went to the little fabric place here in Carson (Mill End) and got the Marine Vinyl and the 1/8" closed cell foam (both were like $14 a yard) and I have enough to cover the third and possibly a fourth panel left over after buying 2yds.

If you are in need of another smog pump there was one with that cruiser and it was in good shape, spun freely after I pulled it off and I contemplated grabbing it but in the end just went with the PSP.

The dog barrier was something we got years ago for our old pathfinder, I think we just got it at PetsMart. Pretty simple but very effective.

Panels came out great Greg. Nice lookin speakers, almost looks like an eight inch woofer in the pic.

Thanks Dan, they were fun to build but I have a couple ripples in the vinyl that are driving my OCD side crazy. I trimmed the excess inside so I dont really have anything to grab on to to try and fix it other than doing a whole new piece of vinyl.

Here are some better pics in the daylight. I actually got to crank the sound today while I took the dogs out and they sound awesome. Pretty good bass out of those 6x9 4-ways, but I think that I will need to add a sub of some sort to satisfy my bassheaded-ness. :grinpimp:

Oh and almost forgot about this. So I built a small mounting system using the US CARGO Control mounts that Kevin used on his cruiser.
Made a little bike mount for my fork mount attachment that was on a length of 2x4. Works pretty well I must say.

Mounts hidden and out of the way

Mounts exposed..

And here is the mounting system, just a simple 9" piece of 16ga steel.

And houston we have power steering!!! So the pump that I got from a mud member, well I ended up killing it and over the last week has been leaking like a siv. Last week I happened to look on the local PnP and low and behold they had an 87 LC that they had just gotten at the beginning of the month. Ran out there as quick as I could and it still had the PSP attached and it looked to be in good condition, about 30 minutes later I was walking out with a new PSP.

Tonight I finally got a chance to rip into the truck and get the leaking bastard out and put the new one in MAKING SURE NOT TO OVER TIGHTEN THE BELTS!! It took about 20 minutes of working the wheels back and forth and then checking the reservoir and filling but I now have actual powersteering!!! :bounce::bounce2:

It is amazing, I can actually stand outside the truck and turn the wheel and the wheels will actually turn, this was something I have yet to be able to do with the truck!!! Next purchase is one of the Krikit belt tension gauges and then I have a new bearing for my AC Idler Pulley on the way.

Unfortunately, it seems like my temp sending unit gave up the ghost as she doesn't even move now (the gauge). Fuel gauge is functioning like normal but the temp gauge reads as though the truck were off. I am going to check the contacts like a lot of the posts I have read say to do but I have a feeling I am going to be replacing the sending unit and/or the t-stat soon..:bang:

Nice looking ride , Congratulations. I recently found one myself and was able to make the purchase '97 fj60 Ill try to post pics soon.

finally purchased after months of looking

I finally purchased after years of wishing and months of searching through many many FJ60's some nice but not right or way to expensive and or way to abused. This is my newly acquired '87 FJ60 with 148k she needs tires so that will be first and possibly wheels then we'll see

Well after some waiting and trying to figure things out the Fan clutch was dead. Seems like the bearing inside was seized as it should turn in either direction when cold with relative easy (not spin, just turn). Mine would turn one direction but lock up in the other.

Got a new AISIN FCT-017 fan clutch from Amazon for $65 to my door with 2 day shipping (I have a prime account). That with the new Toyota thermostat, o-ring, and a Fel-pro housing paper gasket (because I ordered the wrong one apparently) and numerous other hoses that needed to be replaced she is back up and running.

All-in-all it took me about 4 1/2hrs over two days (didn't realize I had the wrong gasket until I went to install) to get everything back together and really was a  job at most. While I had the chance I split the fan shroud as well but I will go back and do a bit better job when I have a welder handy.

And here are some pics...
Got the housing off to find that the PO (or his mechanic) decided they didn't need a bottom paper gasket, instead they used Orange RTV.

Old t-stat with detonated o-ring (which is why my temp gauge wasn't working)

Dirty ass housing top....

All cleaned up after a little time with a straight razor and wire wheel...

New t-stat vs. old (I ended up keeping the old t-stat just in-case because it seemed operational and only that the o-ring was gone)....

Dirty ass coolant sensor

Shroud and fan clutch out.. (for those that need to do this, best bet is to loosen the nuts on the fan clutch then take the bolts out from the shroud. As you get more room unscrew the nuts and pull both the shroud and clutch out TOGETHER)

Fan getting cleaned up..

New vs. old Fan Clutch (note that the AISIN FCT-017 is slightly larger then the original)

Fan attached to new clutch

After splitting the shroud... new fan clutch on with bottom of shroud on.

My hokey split job, I will go back and weld the nuts to the metal bar (16ga 3/4" steel) and then be able to screw the bolts in from the outside... MUCH EASIER that way)

Everything back together...

And she is running with NO LEAKS!!!!

lookin good dude!! I still want to see that cruiser in action next time I can make it to a club meeting :)

Well it has been a few months since I have posted really. Lots going on here with new job, wife constantly traveling for work, and my mother passing suddenly a few weeks ago.

I took the chance and hit some of the "emerging" rust in the wheel wells only to find that the PO had just left the rust and bondo'd over it and repainted. He had mentioned that there was some rust that he covered up with the new cost of paint, hence the 8B4 being silver, but I didn't realize it was quite this bad.

So I cleaned up what I could and then hit it with some self-etching primer for the time being. I was lucky in that a local club member has a cruiser that I can grab some clean panels from to replace the rear quarters/wheel wells.

With that said, here is my wife's uncle's donation to me having a bit of fun ( aside from learning to fly fish and mountain biking).

sorry to hear about your mom passing, that's gotta be rough.

sometimes I just ignore my rust and hope it goes away...lol I got a little bit above the wheel wells and some on the A pillar. not horrible though and a cut-n-weld should fix it.

hit me up for fishing, sorry I didn't reply to your PMs. ive been busy with work as well and barely got a day off recently

Thanks Kyle and no worries on the replies. Welcome to adult life and trying to fit everything in. I am thinking realistically for fishing with you will not be until end of next month at earliest but I will text you and we will figure something out. Been practicing cast at the local park and I think I am getting the hang of it!

If you guys get a fishing weekend going somewhere down the road, give me a heads up and I might be able head up and join you guys.

Kyle, yeah shoot me a text for lunch. I work 4-10: with sat, sun, Monday off.
