See I have a feeling that my boots are gone and that is where the leaking if coming from but figure the replacement kit will give me piece of mind when replacing all those seals and plastic/rubber parts.

Let me know what you need. Seriously the swap with new parts took me all of 5hrs and with was with me dinking around (cussing and what not) on the first side for about an hour or so trying to figure out why my **** drums wouldnt come off.. You have to back those F:censored: way off before the drums will pull, also grab yourself a set of 10mx1.25 bolts in a decent length, they will help pop those drums off if they have frozen to the hub like my right side was.

ok sounds good. thanks for the advice, im going to try not to replace the diff fluid as my fill plug is siezed but i will probably replace the seal since i have spares. im just gonna get some PD blaster

Just need a breaker bar (long pipe)... Get that thing off of there and replace them all with 10mm allen head plugs!!

Tune-up and Timing complete

Well last week I took it upon myself to finally get after the dieseling issue that BeBe has had since I got her. Originally the PO retarded her timing to combat the ever present vacuum leaks but with me doing the desmog and replacing all the lines it was time to get in there and take care of the rest.

Thanks to Georg @ Valley Hybrid (OrangFJ45), I had a box sitting at my door on Thursday with a new Toyota Distributor Cap, Rotor, Fuel Filter, and Spark Plugs and on Georg's recommendation I went to NAPA and picked up their premium Plug wires.

I created a separate thread with lots of pictures for those newbies like me that have either not done this type of thing in a VERY long time or have never done it. All told it too me a good 4hrs of tinkering and figuring things out to get it done, but all in, the changes should really only take about an hour or so with setting the timing.

So now she runs beautifully, timing properly set at 7*, flywheel marked for TDC and 7* BTDC and was even able to adjust my idle mixture screw that I have needed too for a bit. She is now purring along at 750rpm at idle, no more dieseling, and fires right up.

GOD I LOVE THESE TRUCKS!!:steer:

Glad to hear that the parts arrived quickly. Thanks again for the order!

Fwiw, you can bump the timing up a little. Should gain you a little more power. To pass the smog test timing needs to be 7-9 degs. But they run better at 10-14 degs. Just make sure it doesn't ping.

Ok adjusted the timing to what I believe is about 10* and she has a bit more "pepp" in her step now! Still running a bit rich it seems and starting issue is still somewhat there. If she sits more than 4hrs I have to pump the gas ALOT (usually 5 times) to get her to fire, she tries but have to give her some gas first. Then on hot starts, it is random. Sometimes she fires right up, sometime it is a turn-over then she fires. Other times I have to do hot start method of foot to the floor while cranking and a couple turns and she fires.

Thinking that I am having some sort of fuel starvation issue so this spring/summer I will be rebuilding the carb, running valves, and may just decide to pull the manifold and check to see if it needs to be machined.

So got to do something fun yesterday... I have had this old Sony stereo (that I can remember having when I was in high school) in BeBe since I bought her. An incredibly basic stereo and really the sucky part was that I never used to listen to the radio, just my iPod or Pandora Radio. So a while back I was recommended a deck by the techs at crutchfield. The deck was relatively cheap, no CD deck (I havent bought a CD in probably 8yrs), but came with bluetooth built in, 2 USB ports (1amp each), auxillary port, and could do Pandora streaming. I was sold just never got around to buying one.

Well last week it just so happened that I found out they were discontinuing the model and replacing it with a newer unit that was changing things around. I didnt like the new unit as much aesthetically and it lost a USB port but the Bluetooth was now built-in. I happened to be up at BestBuy with the wife and low and behold they had the old unit (JVC KD-X50BT) on clearance. So with the headunit and a soda I was out the door for less than $85!!!

Yesterday my buddy came over and helped me install the new JVC KD-X50BT digital media head unit. All I can say is this thing ROCKS!!! I can now do hands free calling with my iPhone, stream Pandora or my iPod, and there are TONS of other customizations like color schemes, night/day schemes, you can even program it to switch changes based on the time of day (so like if you like a talk radio show on your commute to work but another station when you are on your way home it will automatically switch for you). Best thing is that one of the USB ports has to be used by the BT adapter, however I have found out on the web that you can plug in a USB hub and it will still power up to 3 devices AND the BT adapter without any interference!!!

So here it is!

Yeah definitely a sick deck on the 30 minute drive out to help a co-worker move in Virginia City. No connection issues or whatever, just good streaming radio!!!

Oh and BeBe finally got a little more love yesterday, finally got around to blacking the rest of her out!

Timestretch by Bassnector? Fabulous song. How's that sound? My radio/speaker setup is ass and I really need to update haha.

The deck coupled with the two Fosgate 6.5" speakers sounds great. This summer will be the addition of a small four channel amp and two 6x9s in the rear panels.

hehe i got 2 12s in a sub box across the whole back. i win! but ya its a good deck, mine has a loose power connection though...

LOL... I used to be a bass head but it is just to damn expensive now... I will add a pair of 6x9s to the rear panels soon with a small amp to power those. Then I will look at powered basstubes just to add a little more low end to it. My buddy used to be a competition audio nut back in the day so he is helping me with this. I was a LONG time ago but things have changed a lot. I don't really care for bass that is going to rattle my teeth, just something with a bit better hit than the speakers will provide. Got the wood this weekend for the new rear panels and already got the vinyl, got to grab some padding and then the speakers. Will probably build the panels first though as one of mine is toast.

Same here. I just got done installing mb quart mid and tweets.

So this weekend I had a couple things happen to me. On my way to see my rents on friday I had to come to a complete stop on the freeway, for some reason this "glazed" my alternator belt and now it starts screaming as soon as I hit 1500rpm, no matter how tight/loose the belt is.
Since I had been debating on replacing the alternator vs. just purchasing the toyota OEM pulley and putting it on my current one and the price being half the cost for just the pulley vs the new reman'd Toyota alt I got the go ahead from the wife to purchase the new alt!! So that is in the mail, with a new toyota voltage regulator (sssshhh don't tell her :grinpimp:).

On top of that I had stopped at the bank real quick to do a deposit for my wife's business and noticed a ton of steam coming from under the right side of the hood. Crap another heater hose!!!
Sure enough get in there and see the below pic. I just want to confirm on NAPAs website they have this as the Auxiliary Heater Pipe-1 to Auxiliary Heater. Is the linked hose the right now to replace it? And seeing as the other one that Ts off it to the drivers side is a bit crusty what one is that?

That's the heater valve. Probably gonna be rough metal under those hoses. I can't help with the part confirmation. I think I have the original ones on mine :)

You could just ask to see some right angle hoses and trim to fit. As long as the ID is correct.

i can check my FSM tomorrow if its got a part number if i remember. if not PM me and ill be on here. but i grease my heater switch thing as per Georgs reccomendation and it helps a bit of the switch inside.

Just looked through my copies of the FSMs and couldn't seem to find anything on it.. guess it is off to SOR to cross-reference and then ToyoDIY.

Ok actually think that I may have found it.... found a russian website that has parts diagrams and some english for the diagram. toyota p/n looks to be 87245‑90A00 described as Hose, Heater Water Inlet E (there are a few different ones A-E).

After some more digging I found a thread here on MUD that references a number of the hoses, this one has bee superceded by 87245-14500. Wish I could find out what the ID for the house is instead of paying the $20+ for the toyota OEM.

OUCH! Just called the local Toyota Dealership and they want $36 for the pipe!!! Unfortunately, they got no specs on it so I am going to have to take the one I have off and take it in this weekend. Alt and volt reg should be here tomorrow and belts are out for delivery today! Smog pump came out last night pretty easily so will gut tonight and then work on replacing the PSP. Damn I dont know what I am going to do with PS... :bounce2:
