I was trying to make a deal with a guy in Australia to get a bunch, but it fell through.

I found one online here in the states. Not too expensive also, however it's was brown, and my dash is the grey-ish color.

I took out the glove box door and went to the Home Depot. They were able to match the color.

They also sold me a spray applicator.

I sanded the old bar to get some surface rust out and the old paint.

When I tried to use the spray applicator, I found that the paint was too tick, I thinned it a bit and it worked perfectly.

The paint matches my dash and all I have to do now is mount it.

I got the screws from Specter off Road, however I can't find the rubber pad anywhere.

If anyone knows or has one, let me know.

I will post pictures when the bar is installed.

Cheers

The rubber pads can be homemade using a generic sheet of rubber.
Also, your head gasket will now blow since you didn't prime that bare metal :)

you are going to love having that, I have one and it gets used quite a bit. just remember to warn passengers that its a good jaw breaker if you make a hard stop and can take teeth out....

We had an 84 Diesel back in Panama in the 90's. It had this bar. I loved that thing.

And I remember also hitting my head when I was little and my dad would break a little hard (no seatbelt laws in panama until '92.

ouch haha

fun fact for those interested, the bars support my weight when sitting on it if the uh passengers seat is also occupied by a date... :flipoff2:

Does anyone know the toyota part number for the rubber pad?

Looks good!

I sent mine to Shane at MetricTLC and he powder coated it and wrapped it in black (actual) leather.

Got the plastic gaskets from Specter.

Love the look of the Non-USA one much better.

Hey guys
Aren't these grab Jesus rails fitted standard to your 60's, so what do you guys have where the bolt holes are.
They are standard in all Aussie 60's

Thanks for that

I have instant access to half a dozen of these, basically they have surface rust on them and the middle grip has been removed or is worn, with a bit of paint and a bit of cloth would come up awesome.

If someone wants to the 6 then PM me and we'll do a deal

Regards

Spudman

I checked with Specter and they were out of the gasket.

How long ago did you get it?

Over a year and a half ago...

Edit: Looked back in my archives...

This one I bought with the gaskets included so it must have been my first 60 that I got the gaskets from Specter, which was about seven years ago...

Hi guys

I still have a few of these left if anyone is interested.

I will only sell them individually and they are $30 AU plus postage, which to the USA is also $30 AU

If you want one, PM me

Regards

I installed my non-USA grab (oh s***) bar today.

Looks great.

I got the rubber pad (gasket) from Australia. The screws and nut I got from SOR while on a work trip to Los Angeles last week.
