:cool:

Red, in the picture where the tree is blocking your view, it looks like the branches are pinching your nose :eek:

Redmuttonchops told me the story of where the indians in this area would scrape the oxidized stone right off the wall of that particular cliff of which provides both very bright yellow and red (you can see it clearly in one of the pictures above) and used it as a staple in their trading with other tribes.

+++++++++++++++

lOOking at the campfire picture, I see the tupperware of Mrs LCPhils choconut cookies :cookie::cookie: :clap: that were good enough to rank right there with Mrs. AZTonys cookies - both are A+

Of corse in that camp fire pic every one looks stoned for som reason

What is that? Dinner? :meh:

Javelina crock-pot BBQ... NOM NOM

Thanks everyone for the pix!

I like the picture of he seldom seen Medtro aka Jackson with his maroon shirt and glasses. He is usually the one behind the camera at all of our meetings. A special thanks to Jackson for driving up in the afternoon and camping with us.

As most have said, great time and the pictures can't do justice to the beauty of it all.

I had a great time on this trail run and campout, enough so that I figured I should join the forum and start posting, so... First Post!

Even though I don't own a 1996 FZJ80 with a RTT and a FoxWing, yet - I'm not far from it, and seeing it out in it's native environment was a treat this past weekend. I'm really liking the overnight campout formula, as it gives a lot more time for talking and joking around the campfire vs. driving in your 'cruiser all day, chatting over the radios in 15 second blurbs.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next Monthly Meet, along with the March Trail Run, which looks historically to be Table Mesa, if past history is any indication. Can't wait for that run, and hope it's coordinated the same way with driver meetings, destination plans, and clear communication about Air-Up, Air-Down spots, and checkpoints along the way. For a new guy like me, it's nice to know that others will keep an eye out.

Some things I learned this trip;
If you're going to get stranded somewhere that you may have to build a fire, and you don't have your McGyver toolkit handy - LandCruiserPhil is a great guy to have along! His demo of the Bow-and-Spindle fire starting gear was impressive!

Also, that household wiring insulation may not be as safe as you think it is; I had no idea it would burst into open flame with just a quick spark from a flint. This got added to my backpacking kit as quick tinder.

Jackson seems to be the stealth ninja when it comes to taking photo's, and always from a great vantage point. All of the pictures look fantastic, and a good thing, since I forgot to bring my camera along.

Hope to see everyone at the next meet.

Welcome to the forum LongDuck, that fire demonstration was great.

Waaass happenin LongDuck? Welcome!!!

I leed most of the trip in a 100 with 285 AT's and a non working locker, no problem.

Also as a 100 series bonus I leed a SC'd 80 up all the hills on the trip back. ;p

Yeah, yeah....but not by too much :flipoff2:

There is hope in the future -

I started singing about three years ago, I entered a local singing competition called Stratford Idol. The other people in the competition had been taking singing lessons and had vocal coaches. I wasn't taking it too seriously at the time, I would just sing around the house. I was only 12 and I got second place.
