Also took the risk. When I put oil in the engine it was coming right past valve cover gasket so installed new. It was crunchy. The red filter was just covering carb .

I got cooling system all together. Pressure tested to 15 psi and found some leaks. Fixed leak at rear heat hoses, but had to pull water pump due to leak between pump and metal pump plate. Also tstat housing had small leak. Im out of gaskets so will make some up tomorrow.

Resealed water pump and t stat housing. Used rtv and paper gasket. Still seems to be small leak on t stat housing. Im going to fill it and see what it does. Installed new shaft seals on tanny and transfer. Also had to install new vacuum shift assembly gasket. Installed and verified everything works.

Installed tranny hump and fuel tank. Blew out original clear fuel line and hooked up. Surprised it does not leak, but the fuel pump does out of the weep hole. I have the one off this 2f motor , I'm going to cap return and run it. Cooling system is back together and serviced. Warming up the engine after a few minutes found the carb primaries dumping fuel onto throttle plates and leaking out shafts. Verified vacuum is good. Found float not shutting off fuel. I tapped on carb with hammer and level now correct. I rebuilt a little over a year ago, but its been sitting so probably will need to come apart. Im going to install drive shafts tomorrow so i can get it outside to tune it.

Drained carb bowl and removed cap to inspect needle. There was debris. Sprayed brake cleaner through it which fixed the issue. Bowl fills up to just above dimple on window. Adjusted idle rpm to 690 then adjusted mixture screw as per procedure. Seems to run good at idle with 19 inches of steady vacuum. Fuel filter is clean so hopefully no more debris.

Is that a '67 or so Ford back there in the background? I had a '72 F100 for a first vehicle with a 390 and 4 speed. I sold that truck for $300 just to get it gone when I was moving across country and I've regretted it ever since.

Don’t forget to get that electric knife cleaned up and back in the kitchen before you’re suppose to cut up the turkey tomorrow! 😝

Got all the lights working by cleaning up some grounds. Flashers did not work. Removed switch and found wire broken at solder connection. Soldered, cleaned and lubed all contacts flashers work. Blinkers are intermittent on left and inop on right with column selector. Found contacts looked shorted so selector probably stuck at some point.Cleaned everything up and set in epoxy to make up for broken phenolic spacer. Well see if it works tomorrow.

Both left and right blinkers work now. The right was slow which turned out to be a bad bulb next to instrument cluster. Front and rear heaters both inop. Removed both switches and cleaned contacts. Front runs in low and high, rear on high only. Its a little hard to turn from sitting.

Pulled soft top to paint bows. Fabbed up an exhaust. Installed the door straps I bought a while back. I have to pump brake pedal a couple times to get brakes so going to re adjust and bleed the system while in the air.
