Update

Parts for my alternator came in so pulled out all the old stuff and cleaned up the housing.

New guts in. The only :banana: thing to do is to solder two tangs on the Voltage Regulator (black box piece). One to connect to the brushes and the other to connect to the bridge rectifier.

For the brushes there is a little metal retainer to hold them while slipping in the rotor. Once together you pull the retainer out through a hole on the back side of the housing. Once pulled out the spring loaded brushes contact the rotor.

Once the alternator was back together I found that the lower mount tab hole was elongated. So I fixed that and then finally bolted it up to the engine. I tested the belt first before connecting the alternator and once I saw it wasn't going to jump off the pulley's I connected the alternator up to the system (battery disconnected). Checked it for charge, watched the gauge... all good. Been driving it for the last couple of days and no funny stuff yet.




Decided to cut my exhaust baffle in half and stick it back in to experiment. I welded it to a metal strip with the existing bolt holes so I wouldn't have to drill and patch any new holes in the exhaust tubing.

It did take the rasp out but I gained almost 50F on EGTs and lost about 2-3psi on max boost. It's easily removed if it starts bugging me.

As for the other 60 I have a buddy looking into it, just needs to pass it by his boss. I haven't done a thing to it.
 
That is a steal. Guess it depends on what is going with it but I couldn't let this one go for that cheap.
 
Ok, ol' wise one... I'm finally getting to my brakes and the swagelok. I've long since forgot how you told me how this thing goes together and what size line to use:

Zach, Rigpig is right, the order is wrong. This one that I gave you is for 1/4" line. The direction those pieces are facing is correct so all you need to do is to have it as: Nut, small piece, tapered piece, valve. When you tighten it all up the nut pushes against the small piece which mashes it into the tapered piece and this makes the seal on the line, then the tapered part makes the seal with the valve fitting. You will be able to swap valves if needed in the future but the nut and ferrules will be permanent on the line. The other nuts are caps as stated and the center piece is just a union if you had to joint two long runs together. I would think you could get more ferrules at any place that sells compression fittings. I know there are a couple places on Columbia blvd in Portland and maybe Portland Oil Filter Service sells them too. If you are going there to get 3~AN stuff anyways you could give them a call and verify. Just tell them you need compression fitting parts for a swagelok ball valve. The model number is on the side of it if that helps.

Party at Zach's! Is everyone else ready? I think the 40 is getting there, just have an issue with the master brake cyl.. but who needs brakes?

Man O Man! What bad luck. That's not like someone carriers a spare drive pulley in their rig.

At least you wern't 200 miles from no where without a cell signal.

Hope you have AAA.
 
My wife and I joked about it last night that I'll be the only one on the trail to have a spare pulley and alternator bearings.

A friend got me home on his AAA. I haven't had a chance to look at what really happened in the light but some piece punctured my upper radiator hose, my belt was intact and looked good, and I don't think it took out the radiator. If it's simple (fixing and finding parts) she'll be on the road next week but I'm sure there will be a snafu in there somewhere.
 
Dude! Seriously? That is wild! What do you think caused that?

At least it happened a little closer to home, and not up on Goat Mtn in the snow. Hopefully it will be a quick fix for you.
