How about a spreadsheet that has one sheet for routine maintenance, a sheet for mods, and a sheet for budgeting mods? Maybe even a fourth one that compiles miles and destinations for trips? I could probably do something like that. And if folks have other, existing ones already, lemme know--I can PM my email addy and you can send those as attachments.

I may be a bit neurotic, but I have folders on my computer for all of my cars. Inside each one, I've got photos/scans of important documents, folders for projects, service log and photos/scans of all related receipts.

Again... I'm neurotic. But it sure does make you realize how much money we spend!

All good ideas. So here is a quick test from the one livinoffroad sent me via email. The extension is changed to .PDF, change it back to .XLS.

I got an error when I tried to open this link.

That is more like what I am looking for. Certain items should be done on a scheduled basis. Because we wheel our vehicles we have to do some of them more frequently. All of this becomes confusing over time and it is easy to miss something you should have done. I want to be able to ensure that every regularly scheduled item gets done everytime.

I'd also like to put all of my mods on this sheet to provide newbies with an idea of what they are getting into. Somethings I did myself and other things I paid to have done....like my lockers. I have spent a considerable amount of money and it would have been good to have a planned budget ahead of time.

I think if we compile our ideas and put one document out there, everyone should be able to use it successfully. I am willing to do the work on this to get it done. We'll find a place to put it that makes Woody comfortable (someplace easily accessable outside of Mud) and make it available on the FAQ.

We might be able to get Ken (Romer) or one of the moderators to manage updates to the document when required although if we do it right, there won't be many required, if any.

FWIW you can't open the link (not a real PDF), you have to D/L (save as) and change the extension.

Good to search archives and get some more ideas.

Here's mine... left data in to give you an idea.

If you put in your "Current Mileage" on the second page (to the right), it will tell flag upcoming service (yellow) or overdue (red) service. I've adjusted this for all of my cars. You can edit the mileage between services in the formulas if yours is different.

Let me know if you have issues downloading it...

This is great, thanks for posting.

The PO of my truck kept incredible records but they are all hard copies in a notebook and binder. It really wouldn't take all that much time to enter it in and be able to check at a glance what was due.

I just use a simple note-taking app on my phone that's backed up online. I can attach photos and documents too. Easy to use and I include things like specs, fluid capacities, etc so I can quickly reference in the store. Works for me!

I don't have a lot of time to manage and update documents. Remember this is a volunteer slot and we do it in our spare time.

There are two ways to do this, have the file somewhere else with the link here, or as already posted and tested, change the extension to PDF. People who download it will have to change it back.

It seems to me everyone does this different based on the way they like to organize. I have hard copy recipts of all the parts and work I did in a folder in my desk. Some things I scan and organize via folders on my computers with pictures and dates. I even went to toyota owners website, entered my VIN, started with the Dealer maintenance logs and then made my own entries after that. Problem is that only you can see it.

I would recommend developing what you want and uploading it as a PDF

Maybe Woody could set up a drop box for silver star members and y'all can share files for all:hhmm:...its only storage ($), just sayin'...:meh:

My log makes me sad and wonder how a $1,800 truck turned into over $10k. Hrmph.

Here is my version. Mileage intervals for each column and maintenance item along each row. Saved with .pdf file extension so you'll need to change to.xls.
