1972 FJ40- I removed the engine block drain plug, everything I have read says that coolant should come out. Mine is dry. Not sure why? Any ideas on how to unblock it without damaging the engine block.

I used the wire and broke up was looks like fine dirt. Also, used a small flat head screwdriver and started seeing a black substance on the tip, but still no coolant.

Keep poking, try some pressurized air.

Just pull the engine, rebuild it.

Its got a layer of rust and crud build up. Maybe a bunch of old stop leaks too. Spray some rust breaker in, let soak for a while. Use like an old nut pick to dig carefully. Spray again, let soak dig.
