You youngsters with better memories can correct me, but my recollection is that everyone wondered for years about the LX requiring premium and speculated that it was in the tuning. Then within the past year or so, tuners cracked the ECM tuning and found no difference in the coding.
Requiring premium just for an advertised 3-4hp? Makes no sense.
That said, both of our Lexus's get Costco premium because we think we get better fuel economy.
If I want to act rebellious, I install 10-w-30.
