Sliders solve that problem nicely, depending on the height of the offending door.
Sliders were the first addition, needed a step anyway….

Being in the 2019+ 200 series market myself, with all the gx550 and LC250 talk, I'm really curious what the cost the newer 200 series trucks will do once these new ones are readily available..

I have my suspicions but will reserve comment on what the market will do. Substance wise, the 200-series (and real full fat LCs) are in a class of their own. Even as the Prado has grown up, the reviews show that it is still very much a lightweight "LC". Not to dismiss them as they are nice cars in their own right. For the use cases and mods I like to run, only a full fat LC will do.

You’re not wrong but I feel like somewhere in that range a late model, low mileage, mint 200 is still a good buy.
Around here, a low mileage 200 Series Land Cruiser is over $80k. I've seen asking prices over $100k. Too much for me. YMMV.

You’re preaching to the choir here. At 6 figures I think any 200 is a bad buy. Maybe one can make an exception if they truly plan to keep it 20+ years? I was specifically referring to the $60 to $80k range he mentioned.

From my own personal, recent anecdotes what I’m seeing on 200’s (in my case, specifically a 2020 HE, low mileage and good condition, not mint) is that wholesale values are coming down to earth but the dealers and private parties selling them are still trying to make a mint.

I have a 2020 HE — biggest complaint is the lack of cool box. I cannot fathom why the prices are so much higher for the HE, it is, for all intents and purposes, a cosmetic trim/package that actually REMOVES content, particularly for the original two row configuration.

3rd row delete was the only useful feature for me. Most of the other stuff I wish I had or did not get (Yakima Rack was useless too, fortunately I could re-purpose it on another vehicle).

The HE roof rack looked to me to just be a noise maker.

I’m actually at a dealer right now trading my 2013 200 for a 2020 LX. Southern car with a spotless frame, clean Carfax and low miles.

What about this? I thought Carmax doesn't price vehicles based on emotions

At some point, your eye may wander towards pre-modded trucks. I have come to not really consider those anymore...you never know who did what work and how much they actually cared. I know it sounds like you're looking for unmolested trucks, but just throwing this trow-away comment in here.

For $60k+ to $80k+ I'm starting with a brand new LC250 or GX550 Overtrail +. But that's just me.
I hope that’s the general sentiment to help bring 200 series prices down. Then the people who want the 200 badly can start to afford them! I’m waiting for the good low mileage non-HEs to come into the 60-65K range 😂

That’s a lot of money for 70k miles. I just picked up a 2020 LX with less than half those miles for about the same price.
Facelifted LX are a bargain compared.

Yup. That’s why I bought the LX instead spending another $10k - $30k for an LC

I test drove one, the infotainment seemed (relatively) unfathomable — was that just because I’m a luddite? How has your experience been with it?

It's certainly not great, but I managed during my ~2 hour ride home. The screen itself is certainly a lot better than my 2013. I will get a Beatsonic unit installed so that I can use Apple CarPlay. I attached my phone and played music through the unit, selecting playlists using the mouse-thingy. Once I got home I sat in the driveway for a bit and changed a couple vehicle presets without too much trouble. I certainly won't use the built-in Nav.

I'm currently reading the manual. I haven't yet gotten into the section on the infotainment.

Buy the newest low mileage stock nonHE 200 series you can afford and call it a day. Like the 80 series was back it the day, the 200 series was the end of an era in Toyota truck building.

thanks all for the feedback. hoping to have an update tomorrow :)
