Curious whether others have similar observations. On my 2021 HE, the ECT Power button seems to make no difference to shift points, throttle sensitivity or any other driving behavior. I see the ECT indicator light up as expected, but no change that I can detect in how the vehicle operates. I've tried holding on the edge of a gear change and then hitting the button to see if it makes a change, but nothing at all.

The ECT 2nd button makes a marked difference in shift points/lockup speeds as expected.

Looking through the VF Tuner base map for my vehicle, all of the primary/secondary/warm/cold shift points are exactly the same.

can't speak regarding a 2021 but that button makes a noticeable difference on my 2015. I now have 4.88s so I generally keep ECT off all the time as running both is a little too much "rocket go-cart" for me. It's fun but generally I drive like a grandpa. Might be because I am one...

2010 LX and I can feel the difference. I leave it off in a futile attempt to save fuel lol.

I use ECT along with "S6" while towing per the recommendations of the folks in the towing threads. During towing I don't really notice it doing anything. But when I'm towing you could probably hit me on the head with a hammer and I wouldn't notice. So, towing, probably my perception's way off.

However, using ECT in "D" when I'm not towing gives me the impression it stays longer in lower gears.

I'm pretty convinced that the ECT button in the 2021 LC200 is a placebo. I rewrote the ECT maps to see what the effect was. Basically I increased the up and down-shift speed points (except at the gear limit speeds) by 5KPH in gears 1,2 & 3; 7 KPH in 4; 8KPH in 5&6 and 12 KPH in 7 and 8. I realize this is not a very scientific approach but wanted to make the change obvious!

Result is a much different experience with the ECT button pressed!

Next change I am considering is to the standard transmission map to allow me to hold some of the higher gears at lower speeds/higher boost without down shifting. Right now I can only get to maybe 1-1.5 psi of boost in gears 6/7/8 before a downshift is forced. I would like to be able to push 2-3 psi before the downshift to hold those higher gears for efficiency....especially on higher altitude drives.

I think it's more noticeable with the earlier 200s and the 6 speed. I have heard that these are "zippier" feeling than the later 8 speeds. The 3.91 gears probably help that a bit.

I definitely notice it in my 2009.

It's nowhere near tow/haul mode in my Tundra, but it's noticeable.

I can't tell the difference in my 2020

I can't tell any difference in my 2021 HE. Feels the same with it on or off, so I generally leave it off.

The maps for ECT on/off are number for number exactly the same in the factory ECU for the 2021 model at least. The button does actually switch maps but makes no difference in the factory calibration as the maps are the same.

I might have overdone my ECT map now…a little too aggressive in the lower gears, but I can always back it off.

The other interesting thing is there is a thermal cut-in temp for the ECT map. Does not become active until the coolant gets to 122 F. There are yet another set of maps for trans cold in each of 4-lo and hi…
