I know it's probably been discussed million times, but I'd like to think I am special with my requests :)

Going to replace tires before winter (still OE) as they are horrible in snow.
I need somewhat more snow-friendly tire, and highway-friendly. And not noisy. I like OE comfort.
Here in STL it's mostly summer or rain. But I do drive to WI/CO few times a year and want little better. Any suggestion?

Question is about wheels because I don't mind to go down in wheel dia to get more comfort and cheaper tire. Which size will give me best ride quality?
And, if you feel generous, which wheel will look good on stock original LX with big grille?

There are tons of threads on this, use search. And this question (yes pretty much the same one) gets asked almost constantly.

But to also answer your question I run studded Nokians Hakkas on 18” tundra take offs in the winter.

I also run -1” OD tires from OEM so 31” (and 17” rims with 33” tires in the summer). I run the shorter tires in the winter as with alpine skis (XC skis make it easy) on the roof in the rack I can squeak under my garage without having to go to low mode.

I strongly advocate that 18” tundra take offs are great, cheep, and plentiful. I ditched the OEM 20’s the first year after I bought my LX new, years ago and have run the 17/18” ever since.

As for ride quality there are no performance advantages to larger rims then will fit over your brakes and tires have as much to do as rim size. Stick to p metric tires appropriate load rated (no LTs) and run a 17 or 18” rims with as close as possible to OEM offset and you will be good to go.

I have 21 wheels even worse
But I don’t want two sets. All season with good snow is what I need

But I like idea about lowering car for ski box clearance…
18” tundra take offs with good set of p metric all seasons and you will be good to go.

Is the only Toyota/Lexus 17" wheel that works the Rock Warrior? I think that's a really ugly wheel, just my two cents.
What about the early 200 Series wheels? Weren't those 17 inch and the same offset as the later 200 18" rims? Is there any reason no one on Mud seems to use that wheel?

According to the Tire Rack, the 200 series has always had a minimum of 18” wheels as OEM.

There is a OEM 17 in wheel that can be ordered through the parts department from your local dealer. The U.S.-Spec 200 was never offered with 17 in wheels only 18 in. The Mexico-Spec 200 did have the 17 in wheels up until the ‘16 facelift. That part number is in frequent rotation throughout the Toyota parts distribution centers in NA. Offsets will vary by wheel.

‘16 + OE 18 in wheel is +56mm
‘08 - ‘15 OE 17 in wheel is +60mm I believe. Pictured below.

Oh thanks so much. Do you know if the early 200 17 inch rim will clear the 2016+ 200 Series larger brakes?

What do you all do with spare? Do you buy 5 wheels and replace all?
I prefer a 5 wheel rotation (all the same wheel and tire) so if a tire gets damaged I can swap the spare on and have a similar tire with similar wear. Then I'll either find a similar used tire to replace the damaged one or buy what I think my next set of tires will be and be ready for the next swap. Currently my matching spare has a sidewall chunk that I'd trust as a spare but not daily, so it stays as the spare and I'll replace all 5 the next time.

You can also keep your current spare wheel and buy a tire with a similar outside diameter to match your main set, although if your spare is a 21" there may be limited 21" sizes to choose from if you upsize your tires any on the new rims. The Truck doesn't care whether the rims are all the same size as long as the tires are close to the same diameter.

I don't plan to upsize, and was going to keep my spare. I am looking at 18 tundra takeoffs, there is plenty of nice sets but all for 4 wheels unfortunately. I kind of thinking about getting 5th of the same and mount same tires. But.. I am too lazy to do 5 wheel rotation. I do 4 wheel rotations though. This is what's in manual anyways..

Pretty sure those won’t work with the 16+ brakes.

Update on this.. Decided not to mess with wheels. I read a lot through forums, and it sounded like tire that I really need is Michelin Defender LTX M/S2
Then I started to look at Tundra wheels, difference in size when tire mounted with spare, fact that I need to do something with my original wheels, TPMS sensors, etc. Also, I went as "offroad" as I ever need even on 21 wheels and no issues.

After seeing Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 available in factory size - I just got them. Price difference $200 from 18s, doesn't make any financial sense to switch.
