Was scoping out Fleabay for a winch and stumbled upon this:

Anyone have one of these?

12,000 lbs. @ that price, there has to be a catch somewhere

Kinda looks like a rough version of the Tmax, case is not quite as smoothed out, motor a little weaker, etc, but similar case/design.

buy one and let us know how it works!
some of the stuff you get off ebay with a warranty, costs more to ship there and back or close to the price of buying another one. Especially something as heavy as a winch. And i think there are a few companies that take advantage of that. JMO

Did you pick one of these up, after all that? I've been looking for a winch, and these seam to be a cheap alternative to going Warn.

The cost to them, for refurbishing the unit, should it break, under warranty, is simply the cost of fixing/cleaning it + the depreciation of selling it as a refurbished unit. I would imagine that's about $100 per claim... so that said, if they're offering a two year warranty, it's clear that within two years, they don't expect these things to have problems. IMHO, anyway.

You might as well buy it. Warn sold out anyway a few years ago. The Warn kids all have toys the likes of which you can only begin to imagine after the sellout.

Buy it, if you don't like it then I'll buy from you for a hundred:)

There's an Aussie real use review of these winches out there. In their trail use test the ebay T-Max wannabe blew up after one pull. IIRC the teeth on the gears broke. :frown:

The one I read was a competition/comparison of a bunch of winches, the Tmax when it was fully/near fully extended on the first run, the end of the rope pulled out of the drum, they made it sound as if it should be easily remedied, but counted as a failure, and took it out of the competition.

EDIT: I am speaking of the real Tmax

Isn't it good practice to never fully extend the line anyway? Always leave a row of line on the drum no matter the brand/style of winch?

I've seen them on ebay for about 360 shipped but now I can only find the 4000k or smaller winches. Personally, I thought $474.99 was crazy, but then I saw the msrp was $950.00

I was looking a smaller "vortech" for a Lawn Tractor I have....so if anyone gets one of these and they prove to be O.K. please post back here and let us know.

I bought a Warn M8000 out of eBay for my pickup truck for $400 with only one pull on it, close to new as it gets. There will be deals here and there on eBay, just keep looking. I'd rather take a slightly used Warn or Superwinch over these though.

However, $555 shipped for a brand new M8000 is not too bad of a deal afterall. :)

Warn 8000 Self-Recovery Winch

Jusy my $.02
