I've had a badland winch for like two years now and about five months ago it stopped working. I finally got around to looking at it and holy s*** would you look at this...

The wire to the motor from the solenoid was completely gone. As you can assume, moisture traveled the length of the entire wire so the whole thing disintegrated. Pretty ****ing disappointing that this happened. I live in Colorado and I can assure you there isn't a single water crossing in the state that would explain this. Bought some jumper cables and im trying to rewire it back. Fingers crossed.

I would recommend getting some SGX cable in the appropriate size (2/o?), some tinned copper lugs and adhesive lined heat shrink and crimp your own cables. Many of the cheaper jumper cables are CCA (copper clad aluminum) instead of pure copper and have poorer conductivity and won’t last as long.

yeah I got some big ass ( and subsequently expensive) 2/o cables. I didn't think of the adhesive lined heat shrink tho. I was just going to use some electrical tape I have lying around but might as well do it right the first time
