Been wanting to try the electric route for a while. The extra performance goodies tend to add a bit of under-the-hood heat, especially during the summer.
The factory fan is great while your moving, but around town, or long periods of idle, tends to get the factory temp gauge to around 3/4.

I figured I'd try the Contour setup and see how it works. If not so well, then I guess I'll live with 3/4's. The install came out really clean and it couldn't have fit better if Toyota would have made it this way from the factory.

I'm just running a couple of 30amp relays and a 'budget" thermostat fan relay thingy. The whole project was a tad under $100. Will update with results.

Have a nice day:flipoff2:

looks good in there. I am glad to see some cruisers from my hometown. how's that turbo holding up?

have any temps to post... A/C on and off?

I plan to do a very similar setup.

The turbo works fantastic. I think the success of an aftermarket turbo setup is mainly in the fuel delivery. The additional injector controller makes easy work of tuning and I have yet to hear any detonation. 6psi/91 octane/slightly advanced timing.

As for coolant temps, I need to get a decent gauge so I'll have some sort of clue on what the actual temp is.

akarilo,
I would love to do this setup in a few months. Can you give us as detailed a writeup as possible? Parts, cost, and installation? I'd really appreciate it.

Me too.

I have a Contour fan in my basement, but I would like to know how to hook it up and have it on when the A/C is on and/or when temperature requires.

And I think my fan clutch is on it's way out....

There are several detailed writeups for the Contour fan mod on this site already. Several different fan controllers can be used to allow different controlling options. I just wired up a couple of relays.
Type in Contour in the search option and you will find several different installs.

I didn't want to spend the cash on a fan controller. I'm cheap and electrically challenged. I can change a light bulb, and use a light switch ok though.

EDIT:
Where do you get a signal to turn on the fan for A/C?

I just hooked up the first fan to come on when the engine starts. The second fan comes on when a specific temp is reached, via/ thermostat probe fan controller ($20) from Auto Zone. I suppose you could get a signal from the wire that engages the A/C compressor (right on top of the compressor) then wire in a relay for the second fan to get its juice. You would have to figure somthing out so the current couldn't feed back to your compressor when the second fan engages (When your A/C is off).

Good luck with your project.

Could you give me the dimensions of your fans? I'm planning on mounting some type of fan in front of my radiator but I would prefer to not ditch my A/C stuff.

Have to go out and measure, although I know sombodys thread on her covers that. What kind of A/C "stuff" you talking? I retained my A/C setup.

I think that you'd want a pusher or a reversable pull/push fan if you want to mount them in front. Contour fans are normally pullers, not sure if they are reversable but you'd want to check that out along with the physical fitment before committing.

Well I was talking about a pusher on front of the radiator. If the wan was to big then the A/C core would be in the way.
